Porsche - Young Driver Development Programme

Young Driver Development Programme

Our new Young Driver Development Programme replaces the Rookie programme for 2020 and, importantly, it includes much more than just financial rewards. It also offers key benefits from the successful Porsche GB Junior Programme.

This new programme continues our mission to ensure UK racing talent has a chance to shine and isn’t held back because of financial barriers but it also offers much more than this; it takes a more holistic approach to supporting our drivers.

The Young Driver Development Programme will operate its own separate points table within the championship but as drivers are also competing within one of the core championship categories: Pro, Pro-Am or Am, they have the opportunity to win even more prize money.

The end-of-season prize fund is set at £55,000 and the breakdown is as follows:

1st
£32,000
2nd
£14,000
3rd
£9,000

In addition, a premium wristwatch will be awarded to the driver who accumulates the highest number of fastest laps over the season.

In association with Michelin, the Young Driver Development Programme will provide three sets of control slick Michelin tyres plus technical training on how to get the best from them.

The Porsche Carrera Cup GB Technical Team will be on hand throughout the season to offer competitors in the Young Driver Development Programme training and insights into the performance and key dynamics of their 911 GT3 Cup.

Off track, eligible drivers will benefit from a media training session and a bespoke team kit will differentiate them in the paddock.

Similar to the level of support offered for the Porsche GB Junior Programme, there will also be a programme on offer at the Porsche Human Performance Centre. The team in the state-of-the-art Porsche Silverstone facility will provide expert guidance and training in all aspects of physical preparation, from diet to training and reaction times.

To take part in this new programme, drivers will need to be under 25 years of age on 1 March 2020 and cannot have competed in any Porsche Carrera Cup for more than two rounds. They can enter from any of the three categories: Pro, Pro-Am or Am. Drivers must register and participate in all races during the 2020 season to be eligible for the Young Driver Development Programme and end of season prize money.
