The new Panamera Diesel is driven by a 3.0-litre turbo diesel V6. Fuel is injected directly by a common-rail injection system, which operates at pressures of up to 2,000 bar to ensure effective mixture formation and increased dynamics. The exhaust gas turbocharger is designed with variable turbine geometry (VTG). Exhaust gas from the engine is channelled onto the turbine wheel by electronically controlled guide vanes in such a way that it is possible to realise simultaneously the benefits of both a small turbocharger (fast response) and a large turbocharger (high throughput). This improves the volumetric efficiency of the engine and delivers high torque at the same time. The results are a power output of 211 kW (300 hp) and a maximum torque of 650 Nm. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is completed in 6.0 seconds. Maximum torque is available in an engine speed range as low as 1,750 to 2,500 rpm. Top speed: 259 km/h.
And that’s all with an EU standard fuel consumption of only 6.4 l/100 km.
