From Malaysia to Canada, from Hong Kong to Taiwan, Grace Cheung has seen the world through her own eyes to create a world of her own.
XRANGE, the architecture and design firm she founded in 2003, is known for systematic yet tactile and emotional architecture with a scope and diversity that is one of a kind in Taiwan. Grace won both the American Institute of Architects (AIA) International Design Award for architecture and urban design in 2021 with her works “Penghu House” and “Landscape of Traces”, becoming the first ever Taiwan firm to win the awards, and also the first overseas Chinese woman architect to do so.
“When you have a dream, your life will steer towards it naturally, and, with belief, you will succeed.”
Grace Cheung
With her avant-garde approach, and undeterred by the challenges and boundaries she faces, Grace’s creations are characterized by their boldness and beauty. For every conception and design, she wields what is of nature and of manmade, traverses between the past and the contemporary, and, ultimately, finds sublimity through the melding of art, space, and humanity.
To Grace, who is an avid car collector herself, the process of pursuing one’s dream parallels one’s driving experiences – where you look is where you’re heading.
