During his college years, Che-Yu Wu majored in electrical engineering with the initial plan of becoming an engineer in the science park. However, practical experience led him to realize this wasn't the life he aspired to. Faced with family opposition and a lack of understanding from those around him, he bore the weight of reality. Yet, he remained steadfast in following his passion for art and programming, pursuing a master's degree in integrated digital media in New York. He once said, "If you feel that you don't like something or desire a different life, there's no need to be afraid because being different doesn't mean being wrong."
However, taking the brave first step is just the beginning. While studying abroad, the COVID-19 pandemic swept the globe, and his NFT artwork, "Strange Robots," was plagiarized by others who profited around 4 million Taiwanese dollars from it. This incident propelled him into the spotlight of the NFT community. Faced with this crisis, Che-Yu Wu turned adversity into an opportunity, creating a series of generative art pieces, including "Soul Sea," and the popular "Pochis series" robot image designs, establishing himself as an international rising star in Taiwan's generative art scene.
His insights into life are expressed in successive solo exhibitions, narrating the birth of inorganic particles in space and the eventual emergence of organic life patterns. Utilizing cold technology and programming, he explores the creation of life and stories, much like the Shade Green Metallic, which exudes green vitality through industrial gray.
Looking ahead, Che-Yu Wu will continue to shuttle between the metaverse and society, armed with innovative skills and the courage to break from tradition. He embodies the spirit of a fearless dreamer, not only for himself but for all souls who embrace their dreams.
