Race report
In sunshine and outside temperatures of 32 degrees Celsius, the race on the Hungarian circuit literally turned into a heated battle. At the head of the 27-strong field was Preining. The 20-year-old defended his lead after the start, however in the very first lap the safety car had to be deployed. Preining, however, maintained his lead after the restart in lap two. Taking up the race from the second grid spot, Andlauer stuck close to the Austrian’s bumper. In the final laps, the young Frenchman put Preining under pressure, but the Lechner driver gave no chance for Andlauer to squeeze past and concluded the race after 14 laps in first place. The British driver and Michael Ammermüller (BWT Lechner Racing) treated spectators to an exciting duel. The German, however, couldn’t find a way past his closest rival in the championship. Seventh place was occupied by Christopher Zöchling (A/MRS GT-Racing), with the Dutchman Larry ten Voorde (Team Project 1) crossing the finish line in eighth as the best rookie. Roar Lindland (Lechner Racing Middle East) once again celebrated first place in the ProAm-class. For the Norwegian, this marked his fifth win in this category.
Ammermüller continues to lead the championship with 91 points, Yelloly, however, is closing the gap. Only three points separate the drivers after the race on the Hungaroring. 19-year-old Andlauer ranks third after earning 65 points from six races.
