In electromobility, there are vehicles with different drive technologies. Porsche offers both all-electric and plug-in hybrid models.

Electric cars (also known as BEV = Battery Electric Vehicles) are fitted with an electric motor and a battery. In the Porsche Taycan, the system voltage of 800 volts ensures high continuous power, shortens charging time and reduces weight.

Plug-in hybrid cars (also known as PHEV = Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles) are fitted with an electric motor, a battery and a combustion engine. In our Porsche plug-in hybrid models, the electric motor boosts the power of the combustion engine.

The indication is based on your personal driving profile, your travelling conditions and the respective model equipment. Please select the options relevant for you. Range indicator. Travelling conditions Travelling conditions With the outside temperature regulator, you can test how the outside temperature impacts the range. The air conditioning and heating greatly influence the energy consumption of your Taycan. When calculating the range influences, it is assumed that you have set the interior temperature to 22°C and that the vehicle is preconditioned at the start of the journey. Alternatively, the air conditioning can be set to 'ECO PLUS' or completely switched off.

The Taycan is equipped as standard with mechanical charge port doors on the driver and front passenger sides. The charge port door opens with a light touch. You can now easily connect the charging plug. The Taycan comes with optionally available electric, sensor-controlled charge port doors: contactless opening with a hand gesture. The performance battery is the heart of the Taycan. It provides a gross energy content of approximately 93kWh and has a range of up to 450 kilometres, which is suitable for everyday use. Due to its high weight (approx. 630kg), it is placed low down in the vehicle. This allows the vehicle’s centre of gravity to be low and centred.The performance battery is the heart of the Taycan. The on-board AC charger (11kW) converts alternating current with a voltage of 400 volts or 230 volts into 800 volts of direct current. The Taycan comes as standard with a 150kW on-board DC charger. The on-board DC charger converts the voltage to 800 volts for the Taycan battery when charging at 400-volt DC charging stations. A heat pump is optionally available. It uses the excess heat from the vehicle's drive components to heat the vehicle interior. This saves electrical energy – especially when outside temperatures are below 20°C and air conditioning is activated. Our plug-in hybrid technology has to meet two exacting demands at the same time: first, it must reduce fuel consumption and emissions. Second, it must push the driver deep into the seat. Just as you would expect of a Porsche.

Porsche electric and plug-in hybrid models.
Can a passer-by pull the plug while I am charging my Porsche electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle at a public charging point?

No. Once inserted in the vehicle charge port, the charging plug is automatically detected by the vehicle and locked. The charging cable is secured against disconnecting and your Porsche against being driven away.

What charging equipment does Porsche offer for charging my electric or plug-in hybrid model at home and where can I purchase it?

Porsche offers various home charging equipment such as the Porsche Mobile Charger Connect and the Porsche Home Energy Manager as standard and optional equipment. Various mounting options such as the Porsche Charging Dock or the Porsche Compact Charging Pedestal are also available. You can purchase these via the established sales channels, for example from your Porsche partner.

What do I need to note in cold weather in particular?

The comfort functions used during cold weather (e.g. heating) may reduce your vehicle's range. Using the convenient preconditioning during charging can minimise this influence, since the necessary heating power is already being provided from the mains.

The charging performance of your high-voltage battery may also be restricted at low temperatures. However, using the Porsche Charging Planner and battery preconditioning can warm up the battery before charging to enable the optimum charging conditions.

Contact your Porsche partner or Porsche Connect Support, if available in your country, if you have questions about the Porsche charging hardware products on offer, how to install them and problems that occur. These support services will advise you, help you to locate faults and initiate necessary troubleshooting processes.
