Porsche GB to purchase Hatfield Business from H.R. Owen

Porsche Cars Great Britain Ltd is to put in place one of the final parts of its national dealer redevelopment programme with the purchase of the Hatfield business from H.R. Owen PLC. This agreement will see Hatfield and its service centre in Staples Corner come under control of the Porsche Retail Group Ltd. in July 2003. The businesses will remain at their current locations and will be renamed Porsche Centre Hatfield and Porsche Service Centre Staples Corner respectively.

Hatfield joins the other Porsche-owned businesses at Reading, West London, Park Lane and Guildford. Consequently, Porsche Retail Group covers the area west of Greater London and to the north reaching Hertfordshire.

“The purchase of Hatfield by Porsche Retail Group, is a key step in our programme of developing regional dealer groups across the UK. This puts the Porsche franchise in a tremendously strong position to develop consistently high levels of representation and service nationally,” commented Andy Goss, Managing Director, Porsche Cars GB.

The dealer redevelopment plan began back in 2000 when the company committed to a strategy of concentrating on the Porsche business and strategically disposed of all non-Porsche franchises.

The second stage of this programme was the architectural development of every Porsche dealership to present a consistent, enhanced retail presence and to create the additional capacity required for the introduction of the Porsche Cayenne.

The existing staff at both the retail site and the service centre will be retained by the Porsche Retail Group.

There are currently no plans for Porsche to acquire any other retail businesses in the UK.
