The Bremen Classic Motorshow is the biggest of its kind in northern Europe. For eleven years now, the show has marked the start of the new vintage car season. This year, more than 40,000 visitors descended on the exhibition halls in the Hanseatic city to seek advice from 600 exhibitors from ten countries.
True to the motto of "A trip back in time to the wild years", Porsche Classic and Volkswagen Classic Parts decided to stage their first joint presence at the Bremen Classic Motorshow in vintage car year 2013. The focus of this trip back in time was a historical cooperative project dating back to the "wild" 1970s – the VW Porsche 914. Developed and marketed jointly by Volkswagen and Porsche, the Sports Car caused a real sensation when it appeared in the autumn of 1969. The compact two-seater, with mid-engine, Targa roof and a timelessly striking design, symbolises the long tradition of cooperation between the two brands. With a production run of 115,646, the VW Porsche 914 is also one of the most manufactured and successful Sports Cars of the 1970s.
Visitors had an opportunity to examine even more sporting highlights in the special display area. Volkswagen Classic Parts and Porsche Classic exhibited a "gentle" VW Porsche 914/4 with a four-cylinder flat engine and a "wild" 914/6 with a motor sport trim. Sporty type: With its six-cylinder flat engine, the VW Porsche 914/6 easily reaches speeds of more than 200 kilometres an hour. Only built between 1969 and 1972, it is now a sought-after classic.
The spare parts experts from both brands were available to provide visitors with technical information about these and other classic cars built by both brands.
