Stuttgart. Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, is opening the doors of its training center in Zuffenhausen young people on Friday, July 28, 2006. Girls and boys who are interested in a traineeship with the sports car manufacturer can learn about the range of a total of 14 technical and business careers in which Porsche is currently offering training at the training workshop on Stammheimer Strasse. 100 places are to be newly filled and the training starts in September 2007.
As in previous years, experts and trainees give the interested young people an extensive insight into their working day. In the technical area, Porsche is looking in particular for automotive mechanics focusing on passenger car technology or vehicle communication technology. In the business area, the Company is offering industrial business training with the additional qualification of international business management and various technical and vocational courses.
"As a premium manufacturer with particular quality demands, we need excellently trained young people," emphasized Dieter Esser, head of vocational training. This is why he is advising applicants not to just send standard letters, but also to include personal information. "Someone who messes about with a motorbike every spare minute or loves playing a musical instrument, for example, is showing something of themselves," explained Esser. This kind of information is important to the head of training – good grades are not everything. Porsche is also looking for secondary school students for technical careers. "We have had good experience in the past with young people with trade skills and a trade school qualification," added Esser. Applications from girls are also very much in demand in the technical area. The female ratio here is currently around 10%. "Every day, we see that girls are as enthusiastic as boys about Porsche technology," commented the head of training.
At the same time, Esser points out that the demands in technical and business careers have risen continuously in recent years: "The proportion of electronics is constantly increasing in our sports cars as well. Our mechanics will thus have to perfectly master error diagnosis in electronic systems in the future." And as part of the industrial business training, young people can now take the additional qualification of international business management with foreign languages.
In the last five years, Porsche has been able to guarantee its trainees indefinite employment contracts – for those who perform well and behave accordingly. In addition to Zuffenhausen, Porsche also trains young people at its plant in Leipzig. The number of training places there has already risen to 46. In total, Porsche is training around 370 young people. The Company thus exceeds the average training ratio of automotive manufacturers in Germany.
