Kingsley ready for full-time Carrera Cup returnMatt Kingsley to contest 2013 Porsche Carrera Cup Australia championship

Former Porsche champion Matt Kingsley will contest the 2013 Porsche Carrera Cup Australia championship following his part-time campaign in the 2012 one-make category.

The Gold Coast-based racer, who won the 2009 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Australia title, is the latest Professional Class driver to join this year’s Carrera Cup line-up, joined by long-time supporter Action Tyres & More.

Kingsley remains one of the most successful drivers to have competed in Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Australia, holding the record for the most round wins, race wins and pole positions in the entry-level Porsche category.

Having raced at three rounds of the 2012 Carrera Cup Australia season, including his championship debut at the Clipsal 500 along with the Phillip Island and Townsville rounds, Kingsley is excited to return to the familiar surroundings of the Adelaide street circuit.

“This year’s Carrera Cup field is incredibly strong and I think it’s fair to say that the championship has stepped up a great deal from last year,” said Kingsley.

“We’re absolutely going all out for a good result. Off the back of these impressive results, we’ll hopefully be able to gain some additional funding for the remainder of the season.

“This deal to race Carrera Cup happened so quickly that we’ve been flat out getting ready. We received the car then tested the very next day with a blank livery. We literally finished applying the stickers before pushing the car onto the transporter for Adelaide.”

Kingsley, who will race the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car previously owned by Ray Angus, will first hit the track this Thursday February 28 for the opening day of the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide.
