Shanghai/Stuttgart. Porsche has given its all-electric sports car the Taycan a particularly extensive update. Since its launch in 2019, the Taycan has brought Porsche's proud performance experience from the internal combustion engine era into the era of electromobility, with several innovative technologies such as the 800V architecture and two-speed rear axle transmission. The new Taycan has push the boundaries even further, with more power, more range, accelerate quicker and charge faster with greater stability. Thanks to systematic measures, including a more optimized battery, aerodynamic design, and more efficient energy recuperation, the range of the new Taycan has significantly improved. The new Porsche Active Ride suspension offers an unprecedented bandwidth between driving comfort and driving dynamics. The new model incorporates Porsche's cutting-edge innovative technology, including the high-resolution HD matrix technology headlights, which not only improve driving safety but also emphasize its futuristic and technological appearance.

In the first batch, the new Taycan presents seven models, with two body types covering sports sedan and Cross Turismo. Standard equipment offerings are further expanded: BOSE® surround sound system, heated front seats, smartphone tray for wireless charging, all contribute to an even more comfortable and luxurious ride experience; active air suspension, electrically folding exterior mirrors with mirror surround lighting, Porsche Intelligent Range Manager (PIRM), ParkAssist with Surrounded Views, electric charging port doors, Sport Chrono Package, as well we the Drive Mode switch and Power Steering Plus, make driving and controlling safer and more convenient. Thoughtfully, the Porsche Service Inclusive Package is also fitted as standard to guarantee a worry-free journey.

In addition, to further optimisation of the customer experience, Porsche Communication Management (PCM) is now introducing a local App store with popular third-party applications based on Chinese consumer preferences.

Up to 815 kW and strong staying power

On 23 February, the Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach Package set its fastest lap at the Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca, with a time of 1:27.87, earning itself the title of fastest electric series-production car. Just before that, the new model also set a new class record on the Nürburgring Nordschleife with a lap time of 7:07.55 min. This time also stands as the current record for series-production electric cars and also makes the Turbo GT the fastest four-door vehicle on the Nürburgring.

The new Taycan family has made a breakthrough in terms of power output and acceleration. Taking the Taycan Turbo S as an example – which is able to deliver power up to 700 kW (952 PS), 140 kW more than before – it reaches the 100 km/h mark from a standstill in just 2.4 seconds, 0.4 seconds faster than its predecessor. With the new push-to-pass function in the Sport Chrono package, a boost of up to 70 kW, depending on the model, can be called upon for 10 seconds at the touch of a button. Meanwhile, the Attack Mode, specially designed for the two Taycan Turbo GT models enables another 50 kW of boost power, which means up to 120 kW additional power in total. Including the Gravel mode designed for the Cross Turismo models, the Sport Chrono package now provides an even more expanded driving experience.

Model Battery Overboost Power Launch Control 0-100 km/h Top speed Range Max.
Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach package 105 kWh 815 kW 2.2 s 305 km/h 555 km
Taycan Turbo GT 105 kWh 815 kW 2.3 s 290 km/h 555 km
Taycan Turbo S 105 kWh 700 kW 2.4 s 260 km/h 691 km
Taycan Turbo 105 kWh 650 kW 2.7 s 260 km/h 683 km
Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo 105 kWh 650 kW 2.8 s 250 km/h 668 km
Taycan 4S Cross Turismo 105 kWh 440 kW 3.8 s 240 km/h 690 km
Taycan 4 Cross Turismo 105 kWh 320 kW 4.7 s 220 km/h 693 km

Up to 693 km with even faster charging

Depending on the body variant and engine, the WLTP range has increased to up to 693 km. The updated Taycan not only requires fewer charging stops on long trips than its predecessor, but it also recharges faster: at 800-volt DC charging stations, for example, it can be charged at up to 320 kW. That’s 145 kW more than before. The fast-charging window of the new performance battery has been significantly expanded. This means that charging capacities of more than 300 kW can be sustained for up to five minutes, and very high charging capacities can be achieved more quickly, even at low temperatures.

Therefore, this can halve the time required to go from 10 to 80 per cent charge compared to the previous models. In the first-generation Taycan, the charging time from 10 to 80 per cent SOC at 15 degrees Celsius is 37 minutes. Under the same conditions, the updated Taycan takes just 18 minutes despite its larger battery capacity. The Performance Battery Plus now has a gross capacity of 105 kWh, increased from 93 kWh.

Cd value down to 0.22, largely optimised efficiency

The simultaneous improvement of performance and efficiency is down to a number of factors: an advanced powertrain with a new rear-axle motor with up to 80 kW more power than its predecessor on all models, a modified pulse inverter with optimised software, more powerful batteries, revised thermal management, a next-generation heat pump and a modified recuperation and all-wheel-drive strategy.

The maximum recuperation capacity during deceleration from high speeds has increased by more than 30 per cent from 290 to up to 400 kW. All variants now come as standard with aerodynamically optimised wheels and reduced-rolling-resistance tyres. New 21-inch wheels and tyres were specially developed for this purpose.

New active chassis with faster response and increased comfort

All models of the new Taycan come with adaptive air suspension as standard. The new Porsche Active Ride suspension can be ordered as an option for some versions. This system offers an unprecedented bandwidth between driving comfort and driving dynamics.

The suspension keeps the body of the Taycan level at all times, even during dynamic braking, steering and acceleration manoeuvres. With a smooth ride, the system absorbs bumps almost completely. In dynamic driving situations, Porsche Active Ride suspension ensures an almost perfect connection to the road thanks to a balanced distribution of wheel loads. If the appropriate mode is activated, the suspension can compensate for pitching and rolling motions in order to reduce the acceleration forces acting on the occupants.

Even more attractive design with improved technology and identity

With new front- and rear-end styling with new headlights and tail lights, the experts at Style Porsche have further honed the clean, purist design of the Taycan. The new front wings and the flatter headlights give even greater emphasis to the width of the Taycan.

The new headlights feature high-resolution HD matrix technology with detailed optics, and more than 32,000 individually controlled LEDs with intelligent distribution, contributing better safety and comfort. The system now displays the brand’s characteristic four-point graphics at night. The Porsche logo in the rear light strip features a three-dimensional, glass-look design. An illuminated version of this is available for the first time, featuring welcome/leaving animations.

Among other notable features, the accent colour Turbonite makes the Turbo and Turbo S models stand out more distinctively from the other versions in both the exterior and interior.
