Summer adventure with the new Cayenne Coupé: The new Cayenne Coupé national launch The new Cayenne E-hybrid Coupé debuts in China, enriched experience to meet diversified customer needs

Shanghai / Qingdao. On 19 August, 2019, the new Porsche Cayenne Coupé had its national launch in Qingdao arousing great attention among the public. The launch featured a thrilling, sun-kissed test drive entitled: “Summer adventure with the new Cayenne Coupé”, showcasing the unique elegance of this sporty SUV. The test drive sped along coastal roads, passing through the magnificent Jiaozhou Bay Bridge on its way to Star Island, with the Cayenne Coupé nestled between the luscious greenery of the Qingdao countryside and the azure horizon where the sky meets the sea. Star Island is known as “The Ninth Wonder of the World” thanks to its idyllic scenery and range of inspiring architecture. The Cayenne Coupé drove past Star Island’s theatres and art galleries as if moving through time, with architecture covering everything from the European Rennaissance to modern art reflected in its windows as it sped past.

At the same time, Porsche also took this opportunity to celebrate the China premiere of the new Cayenne E-Hybrid Coupé, which is introduced based on the success of the Cayenne E-Hybrid. Since its China Premiere at the end of last year, Cayenne E-Hybrid has sold more than 3,600 units in China in the first half of this year, accounting for nearly a quarter of the Cayenne's total sales. It is one of the most successful luxury brand plug-in hybrid SUVs of the year. As the second plug-in hybrid model from the third-generation of the Cayenne family, the new Cayenne E-Hybrid Coupé – which boasts pioneering hybrid technology derived from the 918 Spyder super sports car and the Le Mans-winning 919 Hybrid – achieves greater performance with even greater efficiency, perfectly illustrating Porsche’s E-Performance concept. Higher output power not only creates faster acceleration, but also brings lower energy consumption and higher cruising range to the new Cayenne E-Hybrid Coupé. In addition, the advanced hybrid system gives the new Cayenne E-Hybrid Coupé more choice when it comes to driving modes, while the specific hybrid display in Porsche Communication Management (PCM) and the instrument cluster demonstrate uniquely tasteful and stylish characteristics. The new Cayenne E-Hybrid Coupé is now available for order with a manufacturer suggested retail price of RMB 1,012,000.

The new Cayenne Coupé, Porsche’s first SUV Coupé, is another masterpiece that continues to expand and complement Porsche’s product lineup in pace with market demand. David Xiao, Chief Operating Officer of Porsche China, said: “As the perfect complement to the Cayenne family, the new Cayenne Coupé continues to enrich its powertrain system. Now we have presented the entry-level, flagship and the hybrid models to meet the diverse needs of different customers. The unique Coupé will attract elites who are sporty, active, always looking for new challenges. We are confident in its market prospects.”

Unique style, destined to stand out from the crowd

With a sharper body style and expressive sense of passion, the new Cayenne Coupé is an ideal choice of vehicle whether it is driven on the streets of a bustling city, along winding mountain roads or a romantic coastal highway. The sloping roof line that defines it as a coupé slides down the rear of the car, providing a dynamic and beguiling aesthetic. While the unique hard top sports car silhouette – set off by the fixed roof spoiler – gives the new car an undeniably sporty feel.

In addition, the front roof edge of the new Cayenne Coupé is about 20 millimetres lower than the standard Cayenne model, while the front windscreen and A-pillar are shallower. The redesigned rear doors and fenders broaden the shoulders of this vehicle by 18 millimetres, contributing to its overall muscular impression. At the same time, the new Cayenne Coupé comes with an adaptive rear spoiler as standard which automatically expands when the speed exceeds 90 km/h, increasing pressure at the rear of the car to ensure excellent high-speed driving stability. The Cayenne Coupé’s lateral dynamic performance highlights its pure Porsche sports car genes.

Freedom and Style: The perfect blend of design and function

Each moment with the Cayenne Coupé supplies plenty of both “Style” and “Freedom”. “Style” is what makes the Cayenne Coupé stand out from the crowd, while “Freedom” represents the pursuit of happiness this exceptional vehicle provides. The standard 2.16 square metre panoramic fixed glass roof permits the lazy afternoon sun to stream through into the car, making the Cayenne Coupé ideal for weekend trips with the family. While the integrated sunshade roller subtly blends with the front windshield, providing sun protection in the summer months and insulation once the weather begins to cool, once again marking out the Cayenne Coupé as the perfect blend of ultimate design and superior quality. When the optional streamlined carbon fiber roof is selected, the remarkable design that begins to sink from the center of the roof gives the new Cayenne Coupé a pure sports car feel like an SUV version of the 911.

In addition, the new Cayenne Coupé comes standard with ample space for four people. At the front, the new eight-way, electrically adjustable sports seats with integrated head rests offer exceptional comfort and optimum lateral support. In the rear, the Coupé comes fitted as standard with a rear bench that has the characteristics of two individual seats. Alternatively, the comfortable three-person standard rear seats – a familiar feature of the Cayenne – can be ordered at no additional cost. Rear passengers sit 30 millimetres lower than in the standard Cayenne, meaning there is plenty of headroom despite the vehicle’s lowered sporty silhouette. The oversized 625-litre luggage compartment not only makes travel more convenient, but can also be expanded at will by folding down the rear seats, creating a luxuriously spacious 1,540-litres of storage – more than enough to accommodate family travel and enjoy all the needs of life. (Cayenne Turbo Coupé: The standard luggage compartment space is 600 liters, and 1,510 liters when the rear seats are folded down.)

Having the power to create passion everywhere

Porsche's signature style, quality and passion are unquestionably present in the new Cayenne Coupé. This sporty SUV instantly lives up to the Porsche name the moment you step on the gas pedal to both hear – and feel – the classic thrum of the turbopowered engine. The new car offers three power options: The new Cayenne Coupé with six-cylinder turbocharged engine and displacement of three litres delivers 250 kW (340 PS), with a maximum torque of 450 Nm and achieves 0-100 km/h in 6.0 seconds, with this figure dropping to 5.9 seconds with the optional lightweight sports package. The top-of-the-range new Cayenne Turbo Coupé hits the road with a four-litre V8 engine with twin-turbo charging, 404 kW (550 PS), and maximum torque of 770 Nm. The Cayenne Turbo Coupé accelerates from a standing start to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds. And the newly introduced Cayenne E-hybrid Coupé is equipped with a two-litre four-cylinder turbo engine (185kW/251PS) and a permanent magnet synchronous motor (100kW/136PS), generating a system power of 284 kW (386PS), and maximum torque of 600 Nm.

In addition, the new Cayenne Coupé offers a wide range of standard equipment that makes everyday driving easier, while retaining the classic Porsche passion for driving. These include: speed-sensitive Power Steering Plus, 20-inch alloy wheels, Park Assist at the front and rear including a reversing camera, Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) and the Sport Chrono Package.

The new Cayenne Coupé offers more standard configurations exclusively for the Chinese market, including ambient lighting, privacy glass, ionizer and side airbags at the rear seats. In addition, the Park Assist of the all-new Cayenne Turbo Coupé also includes a 360 degree view as standard.
