US premiere of the new 911 Carrera and a world premierePorsche at the Los Angeles Auto Show 2011
Stuttgart. Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, is despatching two new stars to the Los Angeles Auto Show 2011: the Porsche press conference in the Convention Centre on 16 November at 12:05 p.m. (PST) will put the spotlight fair and square on the debut of the new 911 Carrera on the American continent and on the world premiere of a model boasting impressive performance and dynamic looks, exuding unadulterated driving pleasure.
The rest of Porsche’s show programme is no less attractive either. Visitors will be treated to a cross-section of the product portfolio with the hybrid variants of the Panamera and Cayenne putting on a persuasive performance with their combination of outstanding efficiency and very low emissions and the two seater, mid-engine Boxster and Cayman sports cars thrilling with their uncompromising sportiness.
The new 911 Carrera is being launched onto the US market as a completely redeveloped generation with a 100 millimetre longer wheelbase. The all-new lightweight design, innovative aluminium-steel body makes the new generation lighter, even sportier and more comfortable. The world’s first seven-speed manual transmission is featured as standard with the Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) also with seven speeds available as an alternative. New active control systems elevate driving dynamics to an unprecedented level.
Setting the standard in its class, as it has for generations, the new 911 Carrera raises the performance and efficiency bar yet again. All Coupés get by with significantly less than ten litres of fuel per 100 kilometres. Fuel consumption and emissions are up to 16 per cent lower compared with its predecessor. The new generation starts with the 911 Carrera, powered by a 350 hp (257 kW), 3.4-litre six-cylinder engine and the 911 Carrera S with 400 hp (294 kW) flat engine and 3.8 litre displacement.
The combination of sporty performance and high efficiency is a forte of the Porsche vehicles. The Panamera S Hybrid and Cayenne S Hybrid lend further impressive credence to this hallmark brand attribute. In the luxury class, the Gran Turismo is the fastest yet at the same time most economical full hybrid with the lowest CO2 emissions; the Cayenne S Hybrid with the same engine is bringing Porsche technology to bear on the SUV market. Both offer a total power output of 380 hp (279 kW) and can cover not just short distances on purely electric power but at higher speeds can coast as well, making for especially low emissions.
