Porsche plans new spare parts warehouse in industrial area of Eichwald26 hectare lot acquired

Stuttgart. The Stuttgart based sports car manufacturer Porsche has acquired a 26 hectare lot from the Eichwald administration union in the industrial area of Eichwald. Within the Eichwald administration union, an agreement was reached between the cities of Sachsenheim, Bietigheim-Bissingen, Oberriexingen and the community of Sersheim.

Porsche intends to begin construction of a central spare parts warehouse in this area, still expected within this year. It will be built in several phases and will serve to secure the long-term course of growth in the After Sales area. In the final construction phase, the warehouse will occupy an area of around 110,000 square meters.

Currently, Porsche operates central spare parts warehouses in Ludwigsburg and Waiblingen as well as additional depots near Stuttgart and supplies dealer organizations worldwide with original parts from those locations. It is planned that the current warehouse locations will be concentrated in the new warehouse in the mid term. This will lead to the gradual establishment of up to 300 new jobs in Sachsenheim.

The location was selected from a number of alternatives. The advantages in favour of Sachsenheim included the size of the lot, the available infrastructure, the transportation links, the flexibility and support of the joint body as well as being located near the most important procurement and sales markets and close to the Porsche AG headquarters in Zuffenhausen. With this investment decision, Porsche has once again strengthened its ties with the region of Stuttgart and Germany as an industrial base.
