Porsche permitted to build new drive center in WeissachTechnical Town council authorizes application for planning permission

Stuttgart. The technical town council of Weissach authorized the application for planning permission by Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart for a new drive center. This enables the automotive manufacturer to begin with the clearing and digging work on the site of the Weissach research and development center as early as mid-November.

The new construction is to be a joint workshop and office building in which all development activities for drive technology with engine and gearbox components as well as corresponding prototype assembly will be combined. At the same time, development work for the new sport coupé “Panamera,” which is due to be launched in 2009, will be integrated there. The building is due to be completed in its first stage of expansion by the end of 2006 and occupied at the start of 2007. The total investments for this amount to more than EUR 15 million. Following the final stage of completion, more than 500 employees will be employed in the drive center, including those who Porsche is currently recruiting or will recruit in the course of the new development of the “Panamera.”

A metallic façade with a technical look will ensure that it is not possible to look into the four-story drive center from the outside. As it will be partially built into a slope, a larger amount of digging work is necessary. For this reason, corresponding site traffic in and around Weissach can be expected over the next few months.
