Porsche: Sports cars push sales in North AmericaBest March sales result on the most important market

Stuttgart. Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, again increased vehicle sales in North America, its most important market by far. In March 2005, the sports car manufacturer delivered 2,981 vehicles to customers in the USA and Canada – this is a plus of six percent against the equivalent month in the previous year where 2,818 vehicles were delivered. Carried by sports car sales, Porsche thus generated the best March sales result in North America in the history of the company.

Cayenne deliveries declined by 27 percent to 1,102 vehicles. However, this is not due to lower demand for the sporty off-road vehicle, but is related to supply bottlenecks. What is more, the order rate has increased, resulting in a greater shift of deliveries into the future.

On the other hand, sports car sales rose strongly in March. 1,054 units of the 911 were delivered, a year-on-year plus of 24 percent. The new 911 Carrera Cabriolet, which was only launched on the North American market on March 12, has already contributed to this growth. 36 units of the Carrera GT high-performance sports car were delivered to customers in March (previous March five units). The Boxster performance was very strong. Deliveries of the roadster surged by 73 percent in North America to 789 vehicles, underlining the attraction of the new vehicle generation.
