Porsche helps tsunami victims in South-East Asia with EUR 1 millionAid projects selected together with the city of Stuttgart

Stuttgart. People the world over have reacted to the devastating flood catastrophe in South-East Asia with unparalleled solidarity. Directly after the tragedy, the Executive Board at Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, resolved to support reconstruction in the region, and to make available EUR 1 million for doing so. In order to safeguard the greatest possible efficiency of the donation, Porsche did not pay into the large fund, but requested its own importers in Thailand, Indonesia and Sri Lanka to propose concrete projects worthy of support in their countries. The final section was made over the last few days in conjunction with the city of Stuttgart.

Accordingly, the Thai Porsche importer will enable the construction of a residential complex with 130 houses in the particularly devastated province of Phang Nga. The colleagues in Indonesia will finance the construction of an integrated schooling center with an orphanage, vocational and secondary school as well as a program of grants in the region of Banda Aceh. 60 houses will be built with the assistance of the Porsche importer in the most strongly affected region in Sri Lanka. Furthermore, in this country 100 children who have lost one or both parents are to be supported with a sum of money spread out over three years.

In order to document the responsible partnership of business and the public sector the financial handing of the projects is to take place in cooperation with the city of Stuttgart.
