Jens Walther takes over the helm from Thomas FelbermairPorsche-Michelin-Supercup 2005

Stuttgart. The Porsche Michelin Supercup starts into the 2005 racing season under new leadership. Jens Walther (36) takes over the responsibility for the international makes cup at Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, from 1 January.

Born in Aachen, Germany, Walther joined the Porsche Engineering Group GmbH, Weissach, in November 2001, where he held the position as head of marketing, communication and business development. Walther greatly contributed to shaping the image and the new strategic orientation of this enterprise. His predecessor as head of the Porsche Michelin Supercup, Thomas Felbermair (39), has chosen to leave Porsche at the end of the year. Felbermair successfully managed the racing series since 2003.

Porsche organises the Porsche Michelin Supercup for private customer teams as a support racing series to Formula 1. Since 1993, ten meetings take place every year at the European Grands Prix. Since 2000, the makes cup also contests two races at the US Grand Prix. Rolling to the start in 2005 for the first time is the new 911 GT3 Cup: a near-standard motorsport version of the latest 911 (997), weighing 1,150 kgs, delivering 400 hp and the first Porsche racing sportscar to feature the in-house developed Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake.
