July - September

The new 911 is available from dealers from Saturday Launch Celebrations and Open Day in German Porsche Centres

Stuttgart. The new Porsche 911 is moving up to the starting line. Saturday, 17 July 2004 is open day at all 85 German Porsche Centres, where visitors will be able to see and experience the new 911 Carrera and 911 Carrera S models for the first time. On the Friday evening before, more than 100,000 Porsche customers have been invited to the official launch celebrations at Porsche centres.

For the first time, all these presentations will run on a single plan drawn up by Porsche Deutschland GmbH, Bietigheim-Bissingen for its Porsche Centres. All launch events start on Friday, 16 July 2004 at the same time in the evening, at 9.11 p.m. under the slogan "Precision 911". Before the actual unveiling, the launch guests will experience an exciting audiovisual product presentation in which the development engineers and designers also tell the development story and describe the product features of both new 911 models.

Bernhard Maier, Managing Director of Porsche Deutschland GmbH, is convinced that the new 911 will provide a further boost to sales in Germany: "Business has been excellent in the first six months of this year, strong growth in both deliveries and orders. With the launch of the new 911 we have the best starting position to continue the success story of this sports car. The extremely positive international response in the media after the press presentation in June is making me feel very confident."

With a new exterior design – which includes a wider track and a stronger accent on the form – the appearance of the new 911 is even now even more dynamic, more focused, forceful and at the same time more elegant. The 911 Carrera is powered by a 239 KW (325 PS) 3.6 litre Boxer motor, which accelerates it from 0 to 100 in five seconds. The Carrera S takes its power from a newly developed 3.8 litre engine with 261 KW (355 PS) which accelerations from 0 to 100 km in 4.8 seconds. The Carrera's top speed is 285 km/h, and that of the Carrera S 293 km/h.

The basic price for the 911 Carrera is EUR 64,700 and EUR 73,300 for the Carrera S. Prices in Germany (including sales tax and country-specific requirements) are EUR 75,200 for the Carrera and EUR 85,176 for the Carrera S. On 17 July, the two new 911 will be launched not just in Germany, but throughout Europe (with the exception of Great Britain, as it is a right-hand drive market).
