Prizes for the world's best advertising film studentsA "David" for the winners of the Porsche Student Film Competition 2004

Stuttgart. The prize for the "Porsche International Student Advertising Film Competition 2004" will be awarded on Thursday, 29 April, in the Caligari cinema of the Baden-Wurttemberg Film Academy in Ludwigsburg. Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, will be appearing as the eponym and sponsor of this young advertising film prize, thereby extending the foundation of its long-standing cooperation with the Film Academy.

In October 2003, the Film Academy in Ludwigsburg opened the competition to students from around 200 film schools all over the world. A total of 61 entries were received from the USA, Australia, Singapore, Nigeria, Italy, France, Ireland, Slovakia and Germany, from which ten participants have already been nominated as "shortlist candidates." An expert jury will seek out the three most talented filmmakers and honour them with a "David". The films are judged on idea, script, direction and camera. The prizes come with cash sums of EUR 3,911, EUR 2,911 and EUR 1,911.

Furthermore, a special fourth prize will be awarded for particularly original and progressive performance in communication: the winner will be given the chance to work on a Porsche press film.

By awarding a slingshot as a trophy, Porsche – as the "David of the automotive industry" – hopes to pass its philosophy on to young film students – the courage, power, personality and credibility to take on the Goliaths of this world as a small player, and to succeed over them.
