A Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid Coupe is not an SUV for shrinking violets or those who take life slow. Which tells you a lot about Rita Agustines. But it’s not her first Porsche; that honor belongs to her late husband’s Cayenne Turbo. After he passed away, his became hers, so she decided to see what it was all about.
Which led directly to her local Porsche Club of America chapter. There’s a familiar refrain you’ll hear at any PCA gathering, no matter the chapter: it’s not just the cars—it’s the people. And even though she was initially nervous about being one of the chapter’s few women, Rita quickly found belonging. Not long after, she also found a little bit of fame.',',',',',','There’s a metaphor about ducks and water that perfectly describes Rita and that first Cayenne. Because the moment she hit the course at her first track day, it was clear she was a natural. Not long after, she was scouting tracks on foot. It’s the same thing Porsche Motorsport pro drivers do, and it paid off for Rita: she had a perfect run and took first place in her category. Her granddaughter—a graduate of the Porsche Experience Center teen driving program—even has a photo of Rita celebrating her win hanging on her college dorm room wall.Driving a Porsche isn’t just about being on track, though. “It’s exciting for me just to drive to the grocery store.” But eventually, Rita decided she needed a Cayenne that truly felt like hers. That ended up turning into her Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid Coupe, all 729-hp of it. And it fits nicely into Rita’s hierarchy of needs: “What you need and what you want and what makes you happy. This makes me happy.”It’s the same with every one of us. Before we get our first Porsche comes the enthusiasm. But not everyone starts with a childhood collection of toy cars or posters on their teenage bedroom wall. For Rita, it didn’t start until she was in her mid-70s. Which just goes to show that it’s not about when you start the race. It’s about the dedication you put into it.
