Life is a matter of perspective. One that’s easy to lose as everything from pressing responsibilities to inconsequential minutiae demand more and more of your time. Next thing you know—if you get a chance to regain your perspective—you wonder where the time went. After 30 years of work, Paige Button got his chance, but it was the consequence of a heavy medical diagnosis.
Whatever you’ve heard about the beauty of Maine, it’s true. Paige lives in York, at the southern tip of the state—not far from the New Hampshire border. A bustling beach town, winding drizzles of asphalt branch out in every direction along the rocky Atlantic coast and inland towards Mount Agamenticus. Porsche country, in other words. And it just so happens the Porsche 911 had been Paige’s dream car ever since it graced the walls of teenage Paige’s bedroom in the ‘80s. But school led to a career, the career led to a family, and the family led to any number of obligations. All of which were brought into stark relief when Paige got the news of his cancer diagnosis. Time was now at a premium—because Paige didn’t know how much he had left.,,,,,,It’s times like this when every choice you make becomes a deliberate one. For Paige, it meant doubling-down on family time, especially with his grandchildren. And finally—finally—allowing himself to indulge that teenage dream of his with a 991-series 911 Carrera S Cabriolet. “It’s a feeling of exhilaration every time I sit in my 911. Hearing the engine fire and the growl of the exhaust puts a smile on my face every time.”Now, as long as it isn’t raining or snowing, you’ll find Paige behind the wheel of his 911, top down. Especially on summer evenings, when a cool breeze comes in off the Gulf of Maine and the temperature drops enough that a sweatshirt is called for and maybe even the heater. It’s these moments when Paige can look up from the helm and set his next course by the stars above.
