The Journey

As part of our continuing effort to produce the high quality vehicles on the road, and in support of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and California Air Resources Board (CARB) regulations, Porsche Cars North America has committed to evaluating the efficiency of our vehicle emission systems through the In-Use Verification Program.

Eligibility

PLACEHOLDER FOR PORSCHE IMAGE ALT

To participate in the In-Use Verification Program, your car must meet one of these basic requirements:

01 Low Mileage Group – 10,000+ Miles, minimum 1 year of service

02 High Mileage Group – 50,000+ Miles, Maximum 5 years of service

Our Process

This government mandated testing for all manufacturers involves the inspection and testing of your vehicle’s powertrain and emission-related components.

Procurement/Vehicle Exchange of vehicles occur in California, Colorado, and Michigan. Once vehicles are procured, they are safely and securely transported to the local contracted labs. The labs are located in Oxnard, CA, Aurora, CO, and Plymouth, MI.

How we test

PLACEHOLDER FOR PORSCHE IMAGE ALT

Your vehicle will be handled with the utmost care and respect, and returned to you as quickly as possible. Participating vehicles are tested by our engineers to evaluate the effectiveness of your vehicle’s emissions systems.

We simulate typical driving conditions in order to collect data about the emissions of your vehicle.

Exhaust Testing

Exhaust testing allows us to monitor emissions produced as a result of specific driving conditions. We place your vehicle on dynamometer (vehicle treadmill), connect a special hose to the exhaust, and monitor the following scenarios.

City

The city driving cycle last about 30 minutes and mimics the stop-and-go style, with an average speed of 20 mph and maximum speed 60 mph.

Highway

The highway driving cycle last about 15 minutes and simulates a more consistent driving speed, with an average speed of 50 mph and a maximum speed of 60 mph.

Supplemental FTP

US06 Test Cycle is about 10 minutes and simulates on-road acceleration, with an average speed of 50 mph and maximum speed of 80 mph.

Evaporative Testing

For evaporative testing, we simulate two scenarios: Sealed Housing Evaporative Determination (SHED) and On-board Refueling Vapor Recovery (ORVR)

SHED - The vehicle is placed in an enclosure chamber where the temperature is varied to measure the level of vapors that are coming from the vehicle and its components

ORVR - In the refueling scenario, the vehicle is placed in an enclosure called the On-board Refueling Vapor Recovery (ORVR) chamber, to measure the vapors released during the refueling process

Frequently Asked Questions

When will I receive my incentive?

The Porsche Loyalty voucher will be emailed to you when your vehicle is returned after testing.

How are the test results used?

The information from IUVP testing is provided to the EPA and CARB. The results are used to confirm vehicle emissions are performing as expected

Can I purchase the loaner vehicle?

If you are interested in purchasing a loaner vehicle, we can provide contacts for purchasing vehicles.

How can I track my vehicle?

We will remain in contact with you through the entire process. If you have additional questions, please reach out to the contact on your reply card or email at IUVP@Porsche.us

How long will you have my vehicle?

On average, standard (City, Highway, and Supplemental FTP) takes about 2-3 weeks. Standard plus evaporative testing (2-Day SHED and ORVR) takes about 4-5 weeks.
