Now in its 6th year, the Porsche Classic Restoration Challenge is aimed at cars due for expert attention from the best possible hands: Porsche-trained technicians who are, like many owners, passionate enthusiasts, and have a portfolio of 85,000 Porsche Classic Genuine Parts at their disposal. Porsche Centers in the U.S. are invited to enter one of three categories, returning any Porsche Classic model to the road.
In total, entries may include Porsche 356 and 914 models, six generations of the 911, transaxle models like the 944 and 928, as well as modern classics such as the Boxster, Cayman, and first-generation Cayenne. While the list is expansive, the competition focuses solely on street production vehicles.
In 2025, four overall champions were crowned on October 4th at Luftgekühlt 11 in Durham, North Carolina. Porsche Bend was crowned “Grand National Champion” along with the National “Individualization” title. Visitors of the event were also able to place their vote for the “People’s Choice” winner, and received a limited-edition pin commemorating the event.

Restoration:
Based on the Porsche Sonderwunsch program, the Individualization category is for participants who want to fulfill a special wish. This is the category for the creative use of Porsche Genuine Parts paired with style and imagination.
The Preservation category is intended to keep original components of the vehicle present, while enhancing it to improve overall function without fully restoring it to like-new condition. Entrants in this category opt to repair as much as they can, while replacing as little as possible. For instance, this could mean making minor paint corrections versus a full vehicle repaint.
The Restoration category is for those projects going through a true restoration process, returning it to like-new condition. Vehicles in the Restoration category will be most closely aligned with original production specifications.
Grand National & Individualization Champion: Porsche Bend
Inspired by the toy cars they loved as children, the technicians set out to create a real-life version of their childhood dreams. It is a celebration of Porsche heritage and a testament to what is possible when vision, craftsmanship, and timing come together.
Restoration Champion: Porsche North Houston
The journey of this 2004 Porsche 911 GT3 began with one goal: to bring a modern classic back to factory perfection –a Speed Yellow 996.2 GT3, raw, analog, and powered by the legendary 3.6-liter Mezger flat-six.
Preservation National Champion: Gaudin Porsche of Las Vegas
In 1994, inside a Detroit bar after hours and around a smoky poker table, a small group of patrons played a high-stakes hand, so high that the keys to a 1988 Porsche 944 Turbo S landed on the felt as collateral for an all-in bet. From that night forward, the winner drove this car daily until his passing in 2005.
National People’s Choice: Harper Porsche
The inspiration for this build was to create a limitless 964 Carrera RS that reaches new extremes in the spirit of Sonderwunsch, Porsche’s bespoke program, by way of a thoughtfully cultivated selection of augmentations.
