With a fully charged battery, the all-electric Porsche Taycan can achieve a range of up to 318 miles (WLTP). The high-voltage battery in the Taycan can be conveniently charged at home, en-route and at your end destination. Porsche E-Performance offers you a wide range of products and services to ensure you are always ready for the journey ahead.

For most electric vehicle drivers, the majority of charging will take place at home and we offer a range of stylish, convenient and intelligent charging solutions to help support your everyday requirements.

Away from home, we offer access to a growing number of public charge points which are easily accessible by an RFID card or app, via the Porsche Charging Service. Our joint-venture partner, IONITY, has developed a network of ultra-rapid charge parks along major European highways where Porsche Taycan drivers can charge at discounted rates. Ultra-rapid charging facilities installed at selected Porsche Centres also provide further opportunities for en-route charging. With Porsche Destination Charging, you can enjoy complimentary charging at a number of carefully selected venues, such as hotels, restaurants and spas.

We ensure that your experience when charging away from home is hassle-free and flexible. Integrated into the My Porsche app, the Porsche Charging Service gives you access to a network of over 550,000 publically accessible charge points throughout Europe. Without having to register with multiple charge point operators, you can charge your car easily and conveniently when you are on the road. As a Taycan customer, not only will you receive subscription-free access (usually £179 per annum) to the Porsche Charging Service for 3 years’, you can also enjoy discounted pricing (£0.30 p/kWh) to the IONITY ultra-rapid charging network for the first 3 years of ownership.

Charge on your travels as easily and conveniently as you would at home: with the Porsche Charging Service. Integrated in to the My Porsche app, the Porsche Charging Service gives you access to a European-wide network with over 550,000 charge points without having to register with multiple charge point operators. In addition to using the My Porsche app, when you activate the Charging Service in the Connect Store, you will also be sent a Taycan Charging Card which can be used for accessing charge points on the service. For even greater convenience, use the Plug and Charge function at selected charge points. Thanks to intelligent communication between the vehicle and the charge point, the charging will start automatically without the need for using the app or card.

Compatibility of the charging plugs with your electric vehicle.

The Porsche Taycan is fitted with two charging ports to make your charging experience as simple as possible. Both charge ports allow for alternating current (AC) charging via the use of a Type 2 charging cable. For rapid charging using direct current (DC) this can be achieved using the charge port on the passenger side of the Taycan using a Combined Charging System (CCS2) charging cable.

Type 2 connector

The Type 2 connector is found at many publically accessible AC charge points. Some public AC charge points throughout the UK and Europe are untethered so you will need to use the specialist Mode 3 public charging cable to support your charging session.

  • Charging performance up to 22 kW on the Porsche Taycan (dependant on specified on-board charger and output of the charge point)

Combined Charging System (CCS)

The CCS connector is found at the majority of DC charge points in the UK and throughout Europe to support the rapid charging of electric vehicles. DC charge points are tethered so the CCS cable is always attached to the unit.

  • Charging performance: between 50 kW - 350 kW dependant on the charge point provider
  • Porsche Taycan charging power: up to 270 kW

Which electrical sockets can I use to charge my Porsche?

You can charge your Porsche both at domestic and public charging outlets. In order to charge with the greatest possible efficiency and shortest duration, public charging units often have the fastest charging speeds. Using the Porsche Charging Service is the best way to find more information about the location and accessibility of suitable public charging points.

For the installation of charging hardware at your home, our recommended provider for home installation services, Andersen EV, can support you through this process if you require. Please contact your Porsche Centre for further information.

I want to be able to charge my Porsche at home. How can I find out if that is possible?

A home check should be carried out in conjunction with our recommended home installation partner, Andersen EV.

Your electrical infrastructure is checked and details regarding the installation of the equipment at your home can be agreed.

How can I ensure that my Porsche is not completely discharged?

Normally, your vehicle will not discharge completely, instead it will inform you that the charge is low in good time. Pay attention to the instructions in the PCM and the instrument cluster.

In addition, your Porsche can suggest a route to a nearby charging point if the vehicle charge is low.

In everyday situations there are many options available to you to charge your Porsche, e.g. during breaks at fuel and service stations or while out shopping.

Can I connect the Porsche charging equipment to other energy management systems?

The charging equipment offered by Porsche is based on open standards. Compatibility with the energy management systems of third-party manufacturers can vary however, due to the sheer quantity of products available on the market. We recommend you use the Porsche Mobile Charger Connect and the Porsche Home Energy Manager in combination with the Porsche Taycan.
