King of the Hillclimb. Fresh from record-breaking run up the legendary hill at Shelsley Walsh, the Cayenne Electric took on the Goodwood Hillclimb at the Festival of Speed with Gabriela Jílková, TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team development driver
At the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed, the near-production Cayenne Electric captivated the crowd, revealing just how far performance, comfort and versatility have come in the all-electric era. One of the biggest surprises at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed? A camouflaged prototype of the all-electric Cayenne Photo: PorscheWhat sets the new Cayenne Electric apart? Still wrapped in camouflage, the near-production prototype of the Cayenne Electric took on the famous Goodwood hill multiple times throughout the festival weekend, offering Porsche fans a first real glimpse of what the future holds. Behind the wheel of the SUV was Gabriela Jílková, simulator and development driver for the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team. Her driving made one thing clear: the Cayenne Electric may be silent, but it’s far from subtle. Gabriela Jílková had previously piloted the same prototype to a record-breaking run at Shelsley Walsh, setting a new SUV hill climb record of 31.28 seconds Photo: PorscheRecently, Jílková had already made headlines by setting a new SUV record at Shelsley Walsh – one of the oldest motorsport venues in the world. With a time of just 31.28 seconds, she beat the previous record by more than four seconds on her first attempt. At Goodwood, the prototype showed the same precision and composure, thanks in part to the Porsche Active Ride suspension system. Even under heavy braking, acceleration or cornering, the Cayenne stayed completely flat and in control – bringing the dynamics of a sportscar to a full-sized SUV. On the narrow, twisty track, the Cayenne stayed flat and composed through every turn, thanks to a clever new suspension system called Porsche Active Ride Photo: PorscheHow much can the new Cayenne Electric tow? But performance is only part of the story. Just a few weeks earlier, the very same prototype took on a very different challenge: towing a 100-year-old car across the English countryside. The trailer and car weighed close to three tonnes, but the Cayenne Electric handled the task with ease. Proving this new SUV doesn’t just look the part – it can do the work, too. With a towing capacity of up to 3.5 tonnes and rapid acceleration that rivals much smaller cars, the Cayenne Electric is shaping up to be the brand’s most versatile SUV yet. It blends everyday usability with long-distance comfort and a new level of all-electric performance. The next stop for the Cayenne Electric will be IAA Mobility in Munich this September – and if Goodwood is anything to go by, it’s a moment well worth waiting for.
