The experience designed for women to maximise driving enjoyment and learning

Find out about the unique women-only Porsche Ice Experience ‘Ladies Edition’ – where a relaxed, celebratory environment encourages fast learning and plenty of fun
She’s a lady, whoa, whoa, whoa, she’s a lady!”. The imposing voice of Tom Jones blasts out of the loudspeakers. Wrapped in warm down jackets, a group of women sway joyfully in the snow to the rhythm of the music. Some are holding their smartphones, filming as the rolling door of a hangar at the Porsche Arctic Center in Levi, Finland rises centimetre by centimetre, building the anticipation for what awaits them. The reveal is a group of Porsche sports cars that they will pilot over the course of this unique experience. Susann is here, having signed up for the Porsche Ice Experience ‘Ladies Edition’ together with her friends. The goal? Learning to drift. On ice. And with style. Across the snowy expanse of the Porsche Arctic Center, the Porsche Ice Experience puts women on ice – in every sense of the word. Yet, it’s about much more than controlled sliding on slippery surfaces. It is about building self-confidence, courage… and having lots of fun.

Learning how to control a Porsche on snow and iceAs co-managing director of a designer lamp brand, Susann carries herself with confidence. However, it’s not always been like that behind the wheel, she reveals. “I ride a motorcycle and I’m not usually afraid of much,” she says. “But as a passenger, if my husband started drifting, I would scream. He would just laugh. But that doesn’t happen anymore.” After an intensive drivers’ briefing, the participants head straight to the training ground. Split into small groups, they learn how to steer, brake and drift with precision on a smooth surface. “I was persuaded by the women-only training programme because you’re not competing against men,” says Susann. Many feel the same way – it helps make the atmosphere somewhat celebratory. The concept is simple: to give women a space where they can boldly test their limits, empower each other and feel completely comfortable in the process, safe in the knowledge that they have the support of experienced instructors.

Testing the limits of a Porsche on ice – at low speedsOn this bright Lapland morning, training begins on the slalom track. The snow crystals sparkle in the sunlight and the vast snowfield looks like a picture postcard of what the Arctic Circle offers. Suddenly, a fountain of snow shoots up into the air. Jasmijn has steered her red Porsche 911 Carrera GTS in a zigzag around the pylons, grazing the snowbank at the edge. The advantage here? On snow, limits can be tested at low speeds – and without any major risk.

“That was part of the show,” grins Jasmijn as she comes to a halt and exits her car, inducing a ripple of laughter around her. Everyone is allowed to drive at their own pace here, something that is greatly respected by the participants. Jasmijn – a PR expert for a Michelin-starred restaurant – usually only rides a bike back home in Amsterdam and doesn’t even own a car. Yet, as a former speed skater, she has a good feel for corners. “You can’t start thinking, you just have to act – even if it’s a mistake,” she says. And it shows. Each driver dictates their own rhythm, but with every lap it becomes quickly apparent that their confidence grows.

Learning from the professional drivers on the Porsche Ice ExperienceLaura, the instructor, nods when Jasmijn makes her considered assessment. Together with a colleague, she guides the participants over two days across various tracks, offering plenty of tips and tricks along the way. Among them is the famous rally flick, a technique for tight 180-degree turns, and how to drift through a corner in a controlled manner. The latter is a skill that is particularly popular. The women get better with each attempt, becoming at one with their Porsche, testing their limits – and laughing along as they do so. A lot of it is just a matter of practice. “Men often have to be slowed down. Women, on the other hand, really want to learn. And that unfolds over the two days,” says Laura.

On Handling Track 2 – a kind of mini racetrack, reminiscent of a snowy forest stage from Rally Finland – Laura takes the lead in a 911. Seemingly playful, she steers across the glassy ice with one hand, holding a radio in the other. “You can drive everything in second gear,” she says calmly into the radio to the women. The instructions reach more than just Susann and Jasmijn in their cars – Marinela is all ears too.

Taking lessons at the Porsche Ice Experience into everyday lifeMarinela, a fashion manager, is one of the quieter members of the group and likes to take a break every now and then. After all, no one has anything to prove here. She has her own car – and space for herself. “That was an important experience for me,” she says. “I realised that I can do it alone, without anyone next to me. In the beginning, everyone was cautious. But here, you learn to master every situation. You just have to believe in yourself.” It’s a realisation that she will take with her into her everyday life. There are many memories being made on this Lapland adventure – including at the lively chats over meals, where hand gestures help show to each other how they barely keep their car’s rear under control. Dinners in the Snow Village, artfully crafted from snow, are just one of many highlights. Breathing in the clear air of the Finnish forests on a husky tour is another.

Back again in 2026: the Porsche Ice Experience ‘Ladies Edition’On the way back to the meeting point at the cabin, music thunders from the speakers again. “Girls just wanna have fun,” sings Cyndi Lauper – and the energy of the song spreads. A few seconds later, everyone gets out of their cars and starts dancing together on the terrace. The song couldn’t be more fitting. As Susann receives her graduation certificate from the Porsche Ice Experience, she speaks from the heart. “You’re definitely forced to get out of your comfort zone here. But I never imagined it could be this much fun.” The good news is that it has proved such a hit that it will return in 2026 with two programmes – Porsche Ice Experience ‘Ladies Edition’ and the ‘Ladies Edition Intense’.
