A Porsche road trip adventure in Africa

Even in winter, the temperature in the Namib Desert hovers around 25 degrees Celsius – perfect driving weather, in other words. Adventure weather. We are guests in a world where the sand stretches to the horizon, shimmering in the heat. Of course, this also means that we’re driving on sand. It’s a surface that tests you, one where it pays to keep moving – luckily our Porsche Cayenne is perfectly at home.

The desert is a constant source of delight. The Namib home to some of the largest sand dunes on the planet, forming crater landscapes that look, quite literally, out of this world. It’s hard to believe we are still on planet Earth.

The golden times never stop in Namibia. The sunlight has a very special intensity – one that inspired its very own Porsche Paint to Sample special colour, African Queen Metallic. Elephants, giraffes, antelopes, rhinos and zebras are our neighbours.

With our Cayenne still warm from the day’s exertions, we gather around an open fire, surrounded by our fellow intrepid adventurers. Here, a different side to Namibia comes out as the nightly ballet in the sky takes centre stage.

There are few places in the world where there’s as little light pollution as in this oasis of solitude. As thousands of stars twinkle above, we treat ourselves to a glass of wine. Our thoughts and discussions have already turned to tomorrow’s road trip on the Porsche Travel Experience Namibia.
