With a 20-year career at Porsche, Stefanie Klaue is now retraining in IT and automation
Porsche doesn’t just build dream cars. It creates dream careers. Shaping Porsche is a series that follows some of those people chasing their dreams. For Stefanie Klaue, Porsche has supported her dream for more than 20 years, rising from a vehicle painter to a process planner. Stefanie is now retraining to be an IT and automation planner – a role that sees her take responsibility for ensuring production at Porsche runs like clockwork.Stefanie, what do you do at Porsche?“This year marks my 20th anniversary at Porsche. I’m currently retraining as an IT and automation planner. This means I’m completing a micro-degree in IT and economics over 12 months to prepare for a new role in a different department, as digitalisation is becoming increasingly important in the context of production.”What’s it like working at Porsche?“I honestly don’t know anything else. But seriously, I’m proud to work here. It’s a place where I’ve been able to grow both professionally and personally.”Stefanie Klaue has worked as a painter and process planner at Porsche, and is now embarking on the next stage of her exciting career Photo: PorscheWhy is working at Porsche your dream job? “Having trained as a vehicle painter and later worked as a process planner in the paint shop, I’ve always had a passion for colours and bodywork. But the world doesn’t stand still – now, I want to continue growing by bringing fresh ideas related to IT and digitalisation into the company. For me, evolving while staying true to my roots is part of the dream. In a world that rarely slows down, it’s easy to forget how far we’ve come and what truly matters. I’m not sure I can define one dream job. “But what I do know is this – I keep finding new dreams in what I do, again and again. Porsche gives me the space and the support to chase those dreams, to grow and to give my best every single day. And for that, I’m deeply grateful.”What’s the best thing about working at Porsche?“There are many things I love about it, but what stands out is that no two days are the same. There are always new challenges, and I work in a team that’s not only supportive but also fun to grow with. I’ve also been heavily involved in our blossoming Proud Community at Porsche. Porsche is so supportive of diversity and inclusion and that makes me even more proud to work here.”Stefanie credits her long career at Porsche to the freedom that the company has given her to learn, develop and grow Photo: PorscheWhat motivates you each day?“It’s the little goals I set for myself along my career path – and the colleagues who support me in reaching them. Over time, your team becomes like a small family.”Where does your Porsche passion come from?“I really connect with the Porsche story. When we have dreams and ideas, we pursue them until they feel right. Once you’ve seen a 911 and experienced its performance, it brings you joy. I’ve been lucky enough to drive or ride in several Porsche models, and every time is exciting.”What are your earliest Porsche memories? “The start of my vocational training is my first Porsche memory. Those three years were fantastic – I learned so much and became part of something bigger. That vocational training has been instrumental in helping me achieve my dreams. For me, Porsche is more than just a car to me. It’s a family where you’re free to be yourself, develop, and bring new ideas and challenges to life – all while building one of the world’s most beautiful vehicles. A car nobody needs, but everyone wants. To now be a part of the Shaping Porsche job insights series is something I’m very proud of.”What are your interests and hobbies outside of work?“I love travelling in my self-converted camper van, downhill biking in the mountains or feeling the sand under my feet by the sea. I also regularly do CrossFit and plan to explore more countries soon. Porsche is really investing more and more in work-life balance – from building a daycare centre to supporting flexible working solutions.”Discover how Stefanie shapes the future of Porsche
