Le Mans stories

So what is it like when this endurance race transforms a dreamy, tranquil town in the north-west of France into a glitzy, tremulous centre of motorsport for just a short time? To truly understand, you must travel there in person and immerse yourself in the fleeting world of the 24h of Le Mans … and unlock a treasure trove of memories.

That is precisely what we did.

Lobster and fuel

At a time when the word ”pit lane” was still a dream of the future in Le Mans, the drivers would actually fill up at the Auberge des Hunaudières.

Our works driver’s path into our LMP-squad

Mastering Le Mans requires people with an unshakeable will and appropriate respect, people who have worked their way up to a very specific position: the one behind the steering wheel. They control their emotions at all times. They are the people who push themselves to the technological limits. Those who can calculate risks in a fraction of a second and those who are considered to be warriors with a heart.

Garage of dreams

For thirty years, it was the Porsche branch at Le Mans: the auto repair shop on the Rue du 8 Mai in Teloché. Testing, overhauls and checks were performed here. Porsche mechanics, drivers and team managers used to go there a few days before the race, full of passion about just one thing: preparation for the 24h race.

Sports friends of Teloché

Two years ago, the café got a new manager, Teddy from Le Mans. He too grew up with the race – but not in Teloché. Little Teddy used to follow the race in Jacky Ickxs time. From the Auberge des Hunaudière. And that too, is just a very short drive away.

Facts Le Mans 17 + 1

To us, Le Mans was, is and remains the hardest development laboratory in the world of sports cars. That is where what we want to bring onto the road some day must pass the test. Le Mans has shaped us, and we have shaped Le Mans.

The third-generation 919 Hybrid is powered by a turbocharged four-cylinder, two-litre petrol engine delivering almost 500 hp that drives the rear axle. Its ally is an additional electric motor delivering more than 400 hp to the front axle. The latter is fed by two energy recovery systems. Converted braking and exhaust energy is temporarily stored in a liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery. Its reduced weight, an improved overall rigidity and the optimisation of the chassis and the aerodynamics all serve to make the 919 Hybrid more efficient, rigid and robust.

From the very start, the 911 RSR was designed with long-distance racing in mind. Honed over more than 50 years, the unmistakeable 911 silhouette reflects the pure power that is just waiting to be unleashed. The water-cooled six-cylinder Boxer engine with four-valve technology transmits its power output to the rear axle via a specially developed six-speed sequential Porsche GT racing gearbox. The aerodynamics of the vehicle have been optimised further by means of a new front end. For even more efficiency due to less drag coupled with enhanced downforce distribution. The result is that the vehicle’s self-steering behavior is even more precise, which translates into higher speeds when cornering.
