FIA WEC season review 2017. The final stint.

Three. A magical number, which made 2017 an unforgettable racing season. What’s more: this season marks the birth of a legend. We are more than proud of what we’ve achieved with the 919 Hybrid. We won our third consecutive overall victory at the race of all races, the 24h of Le Mans. A victory that was brought home after a thrilling pursuit through the night to take the lead. With tremendous willpower and team spirit, we managed to fight our way back from 54th to 1st position. But the magic of the number three isn’t over just yet: we also won the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) title for the third time in a row – once again with the 919 Hybrid. Along with our repeat victory in the Drivers’ Championship title, we scored a triple hat trick, which will go down in motorsports history.

Although 2017 represents success, it also represents a farewell. After more than four years with the Porsche 919 Hybrid we are leaving the prototype class LMP1 in the FIA WEC.

2018 will see us on the grid with the spearhead of our GT family – the 911 RSR. And just like every season on the race track, we will be competing for victory.
