Porsche – the ultimate auto brand in luxury and performance made a dazzling debut in Vietnam today, amidst an audience of potential consumers and media at the Molinari café, Le Duan St, District 1. Hosting the launch event was Prestige Sports Car Company (PSC) – the exclusive authorized importer for Porsche cars in the country.

“The time for Porsche in Vietnam is now,” said Mr. Andreas Klingler, General Director of Prestige Sports Car Company.  “Drivers in the high-end market are now looking for more than just average luxury vehicles.  They are looking for sporty, cutting edge masterpieces that personify their bold personalities and express their exquisite sophistication.  Porsche is a brand that epitomizes luxury and performance, imparting a driving experience that is unparalleled in all respects.”

Porsche is a renowned international brand that has impressed consumers and critics across the world through its passion towards motorsports. Porsche has excelled in every category of the sport - road race events, hill climbing, all forms of rallying etc., proving its versatility irrespective of the terrain. “It is this commitment to racing that has led to consistent advancements in engineering resulting into products which are sporty, agile and above all, sheer joy to drive,” explained Klingler.

Porsche’s portfolio in Vietnam:

Cayenne
Cayenne is Porsche’s powerful 5-seater SUV with all-wheel drive. It is uncompromisingly sporty, agile, dynamic and practical down to the final detail of everyday use. Available in four variants – Cayenne, Cayenne S, Cayenne GTS and Cayenne Turbo, this product is an embodiment of all Porsche values.

The Porsche Cayenne entering Vietnam is a second generation product with fresh and powerful design, new engines and an even higher standard of driving dynamics. The “basic" version of Porsche's superior Sports Utility is powered by a 290 bhp (213 kW) six-cylinder increased in size from 3.2 to 3.6 liters – offering an increase in maximum output over the former V6 by no less than 40 bhp or 29 kW. Featuring a natural-aspiration V8 power unit up by 0.3 litres to 4.8 litres capacity, the Cayenne S develops maximum output of 385 bhp (283 kW), 45 bhp (33 kW) more than before. The increase in power on the eight-cylinder Cayenne Turbo with bi-turbo turbochargers is even more significant, the top model in the range boasting exactly 50 bhp or 37 kW more in power than its predecessor, and thus raising the benchmark to precisely 500 bhp or 368 kW. For the first time all four models come with direct gasoline injection giving Cayenne not only significantly more power, but also a substantial reduction of fuel consumption of around 8 percent, which results in sa¬vings of up to 15 per cent under realistic driving conditions.

Boxster
Boxster is Porsche’s 2-seater roadster which is extremely agile and a true pleasure to drive. Available as Boxster and Boxster S, this brand lives up to the spirit of Porsche to the fullest.
In its looks and technical features, the Boxster is a dynamic performer through and through. The design of the car follows the evolutionary development so typical of Porsche: The “face" of the Boxster with its oval headlights, the silhouette with its powerful, sweeping lines and 17-inch wheels fitted as standard, as well as the rear end with its striking joints and seams are clearer, firmer and more function-oriented in this second generation of the Boxster. Boxster features Porsche's 2.7-litre power unit with va¬riable VarioCam Plus valve management increasing the output of this outstanding six-cylin¬der to 180 kW or 245 bhp. Acceleration to 100 km/h comes in 6.1 seconds; top speed is 258 km/h or 161 mph.

Powered by a new 217 kW (295 bhp) 3.4-litre flat-six and offering a power-to-weight ratio of 4.7 kilos per horsepower, the Porsche Boxster S sets the standard not only in driving dy¬namics. Performance is of course exceptional due to the very good ratio between weight and power, the Boxster S with its six-speed manual gearbox featured as standard accelera¬tes to 100 km/h in just 5.4 seconds. Top speed, is 272 km/h or 169 mph, 4 km/h faster than the former model.

Cayman
Cayman is Porsche’s 2-seater coupe with rear wheel drive which epitomizes the sportscar experience like virtually no other vehicle on the road. Catering to the varying needs of the users, it is available in two forms – Cayman and Cayman S.

The Cayman Sports Coupe is powered by a 2.7-litre boxer engine featuring VarioCam Plus valve management. Maximum output of this six-cylinder power unit is 245 bhp or 180 kW, with torque peaking at 273 Newton-metres or 201 lb-ft between 4600 and 6000 rpm. In standard trim with its five-speed manual gearbox, the Cayman accelerates to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds and has a top speed of 258 km/h or 160 mph.

Introducing the Cayman S, Porsche offers the customer a new Sports Coupe positioned bet-ween the Boxster and the 911 Carrera. The new 3.4-litre six-cylinder mounted upfront of the rear axle of the Cayman S develops maximum output of 295 bhp (217 kW) at 6250 rpm, giving this 1340 kg (2955 lb) sports car a power-to-weight ratio of 4.5 kilos per horse¬po¬wer (6.2 kg/kW) and ensuring acceleration to 100 km/h in just 5.4 seconds. Top speed of this variant is an impressive 275 km/h or 183 mph.

911 Carrera
911 Carrera is a 2+2 seater coupe which is a clear Porsche legend, in form as well as function. It has a driving experience that is immediate, direct, intense and inspirational.

Porsche 911 Carrera is available in two power versions with engines varying in size: the “basic" 911 Carrera displacing 3.6 litres and developing maximum output of 239 kW (325 bhp) at 6800 rpm and the 911 Carrera S displacing 3.8 litres and with maximum output of 261 kW (355 bhp) at 6600 rpm. The 3.8-litre flat-six develops its maximum torque of 400 Newton-metres (295 lb-ft) at 4600 rpm, accele¬rating the Carrera S in 4.8 seconds from 0-100 km/h and ensuring a top speed of 293 km/h or 182 mph.

Porsche 911 Turbo features an exhaust gas tur¬bocharger with variable turbine geometry (VTG) for efficient control of the exhaust gas flow throughout the entire range of engine speed, guiding the flow of air in exactly the right direc¬tion and at the right angle to the turbine blades. The result is yet a further increase in engine output, despite engine capacity remaining unchanged at 3.6 litres, from 309 kW (420 bhp) to 353 kW (480 bhp). Maximum torque, in turn, is up from 560 to 620 Newton-metres (383 to 457 lb-ft) and starts at a very low 1950 rpm.

“We have a long term vision of running the Porsche brand in Vietnam,” emphasized Klingler. “Apart from offering world-class iconic vehicles, we are gearing up to provide the best in class service to our customers.
