Porsche Motorsport Week 2012

Kuala Lumpur. Porsche Motorsport Week 2012 was held as a token of appreciation from Sime Darby Auto Performance (SDAP) to reward its valued customers. Held at the renowned Sepang International Circuit (SIC), from 16th to 19th May 2012, Porsche Motorsport Week 2012 has witnessed overwhelming participation from Porsche enthusiasts. The new Boxster S and Panamera GTS were also previewed for the first time to the Malaysian media only during the Porsche Motorsport Week 2012.

Porsche Motorsport Week combined two exciting customer activities: Porsche Driving Experience Malaysia (PDEM) and Porsche Circuit Training (PCT). Porsche Driving Experience Malaysia (PDEM) offered driving experience on various Porsche model lines such as the 911, Cayman, Cayenne and Panamera. With the guidance from professional driving instructors, participants learnt basic driving techniques in 4 different sectors (namely Slalom, Brake, Moose and Skid-pad) at SIC. As for PCT, the training sessions which were conducted by International Certified Porsche Driving Instructors offered the enthusiastic participants advanced level of track driving.

Arnt Bayer, Chief Executive Officer of SDAP, said: “Motorsport is the heart of Porsche and this is precisely why we introduce more and more driving activities on the track. We want our customers to experience the brand and the car, and to understand how to maximize the performance of the car as well as safe driving.”

Porsche Motorsport Week was brought to the customers with the support from partners such as Mobil 1, Michelin, and Sonax.

Spirit, Declared. The New Boxster
Lighter and more fuel-efficient, faster and more agile – with an all-new lightweight design body and completely revamped chassis, the latest generation of the Boxster is setting new top scores for Porsche Intelligent Performance. The open-top two-seater car is being marketed with a completely new lightweight body and a completely revamped chassis. Considerably lower weight, longer wheelbase, a wider track and larger wheels significantly enhance the mid-engine sports car’s driving dynamics. The new Boxster models boast superior performance and are up to 15 percent more fuel-efficient.

The new Boxster delivers fundamentally changed styling with shorter overhangs, significantly forward-shifted windscreen, flatter silhouette and expressive edges. The passengers are enclosed by the completely redesigned, fully electric hood, which now operated in 9 seconds. The interior concept offers the occupants more space and reflects the new Porsche outline with the raked centre console.

The new sports car generation makes its debut in the classic Porsche pairing of Boxster and Boxster S. Both models are powered by flat-six engines with direct petrol injection, the efficiency of which is further enhanced by electrical system recuperation, now thermal management and auto start/stop function. The base model’s new power unit delivers 265 hp (195 kW) from a 2.7 litre displacement – ten hp more than its larger displacement predecessor. Technically, it is now based on the 3.4-litre engine of the Boxster S, which now delivers 315 hp (232 kW), five hp more than before. In Malaysia, both models feature the seven-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) available as standard. Both sports cars achieve their best fuel consumption and acceleration performance with the PDK. The Porsche Boxster’s fuel consumption with PDK is 7.7 l/100 km and 8.0 l/100 km for the Boxster S. With gear changes without interruption to the power flow, the Boxster sprints from zero to 100 km/h in 5.5* seconds, the Boxster S in 4.8* seconds.
*with optional Sport Chrono Package

To enhance driving dynamics yet further, Porsche offers the Sport Chrono Package as an optional extra for the Boxster, featuring dynamic transmission mounts for the first time. Also new in the Boxster is Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) with mechanical rear axle differential lock.

The new Boxster and Boxster S are now available at all Porsche Centres in Malaysia. Base car prices start from RM450.000 for the Boxster and RM550.000 for the Boxster S. Prices includes a 4-year factory warranty and 4-year complimentary service and maintenance package**. The above prices include all applicable duties and exclude registration fee, road tax and insurance. Specifications and prices are subject to change without prior notice.

Purist. The Panamera GTS
At Porsche, GTS stands for Gran Turismo Sport – the model name says it all: the new Panamera GTS is the purist member of Porsche’s Gran Turismo family, promising extraordinary Porsche performance ever since the legendary 904 Carrera GTS back in 1963.

More power and upgraded brakes, a body lowered by ten millimeters and the especially sportily tuned chassis with air suspension and PASM are the major technical modifications that make it the Panamera model capable of cutting it on the racing circuit – without sacrificing practicality. The sportiest of all Panameras also conveys this to occupants and the outside world by its striking sound. In terms of looks, the new Panamera GTS signals its independence by distinctive design features in the front-end, side and rear area as well as black highlights. The interior as well is rigorously tailored to the sporty personality with sports seats, SportDesign steering wheel with shift paddles, exclusive GTS leather interior and Alcantara surfaces.

The power unit in the new Panamera GTS is a modified 4.8-litre naturally aspirated V8 engine, delivering 430 hp (316 kW) at 6,700 rpm, trumping the engine in its Panamera S/4S sister models by 30 hp (22 kW). The maximum torque also increased by comparison, from 500 Nm to 520 Nm. The way in which at the push of a button the Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) transmits the engine output to the all-wheel drive (PTM) – thanks to the Sport Chrono package featured as standard without interruption to the power flow – is especially dynamic. This collaboration enables the Panamera GTS to sprint to 100 km/h in under 4.5 seconds, accelerating on to its top speed of 288 km/h. With NEDC fuel consumption of only 10.9 l/100 km. The Panamera GTS remains as much of an efficiency role model in among all Porsche models.

The standard values for sprint and top speed don’t do full justice to the new Panamera GTS’s sporty characteristics. Its chassis in particular makes it fit for the racing circuit: The adaptive air suspension and Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) featured as standard connect the chassis and body, constantly adapting to the driving challenges by regulating levelling settings, adjusting height, adjusting the spring rate and electrically adjusting the damping system. The damping is designed to be tauter, which helps agility and further reinforces the new Gran Turismo’s sporty personality. Five millimeter thick wheel spacers between the wheel and the wheel carriers increase the rear axle track width, giving the Panamera an even more stable ride. Panamera GTS offers a Malaysian standard option that includes 20 inch RS Spyder wheels and a luxurious option packaged for the passengers travelling in the rear consisting out of 8 way power seats, 4 zone air conditioning, electric rear blinds on the side and rear window and Porsche Communication Management (PCM) including a hard drive based navigation system.

The Panamera GTS is now available at all Porsche Centres in Malaysia. Base car price of the Panamera GTS starts from RM1,050.000 which includes a 4-year factory warranty and 4-year complimentary service and maintenance package**. The price also includes all applicable duties and excludes registration fee, road tax and insurance. Specifications and prices are subject to change without prior notice.
