Porsche Carrera Cup Asia Shanghai International Circuit, October 23-24, 2010 – Rounds 9 & 10Team Jebsen Celebrates Shanghai Podium

Team Jebsen stood proudly on the podium in Shanghai this weekend, after taking a superb 3rd place finish in Round 9 of the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia as the team continues to make strides in their 2010 campaign.

Coming into this weekend’s event at the 4.603km configuration of the Shanghai International Circuit, Team Jebsen knew they had needed to make an impact and the most experienced Porsche team in Carrera Cup Asia history did just that.

With two races remaining of the 12-round season, the team is fifth overall as they head to China’s Pearl River Delta Region for the season finale at the Zhuhai International Circuit.

"We’ve made progress this weekend," Team Jebsen driver Rodolfo Avila said. "We had two great days. Practice went really well on Friday and then our Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car was set-up really well for Saturday’s heavy rain, and we did a good job in qualifying and in the first race. I’m happy that we were able to get our first podium of the season and, although I had hoped we could do more for the second race, I’m looking forward to going for the podium again in Zhuhai."

Team Jebsen’s weekend began strongly, choosing the optimum set-up for a rain-filled qualifying session. Although Avila was caught in traffic during what would have been a flying lap, and made an error on the last corner, the 23-year old persevered. When he did get a clear lap, he was right on the pace.

The rain continued to pour down for Saturday afternoon’s Round 9, but Avila, starting from the second row, made a clean start. Though he faced some pressure during the first half of the race, Avila held his nerve to claim a podium finish.

Starting Sunday’s Round 10 from third on the grid, Team Jebsen had hoped to go one better, but lost two places at the start and crossed the line fifth.

"In the rain, we had really good pace so I definitely expected more for today," Avila said. "That didn’t happen, but I do believe we have made strong progress ahead of the season finale, and I look forward to seeing Team Jebsen fans in Zhuhai next month."

Team Jebsen is back in action next month at the title decider for the 2010 Porsche Carrera Cup Asia from November 5-7 at the Zhuhai International Circuit, where the series will for the first time support the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup.
