Premium repairworks for Porsche classics at QAF Eurokars

THE BRUNEIAN, 4 APRIL 2018

The intricate workmanship put into making a Porsche is the mark of a true automotive powerhouse that not just anyone can replicate.

In trying to maintain the pristine quality and excellence of your prize possessions, getting the proper restoration and patch up jobs done may become an impossible task without the assistance of Porsche-trained technicians.

Brunei is fortunate however, as its Porsche Centre under QAF Eurokars now has a strong line-up of technicians to cater to Porsche owners in the sultanate.

Its panel of technical experts alone possess a collective experience of 41 years in handling the ins and outs of a Porsche, accumulated in years spent working in various Porsche centres overseas.

Their recent work on a 1994 Porsche 993 series belonging to Shanan Nair speaks volumes on their skills; where the car is now running exactly how a new car should.

The journey began when After Sales Manager Lahiru De Silva came to look after Porsche’s market in the sultanate back in 2015.

At the time, he noted that there was no one around anywhere who had the full grasp of handling repair-works and proper maintenance as standardised by Porsche.

Looking at this, he then began recruiting experienced technicians; starting from those he worked with in his previous posts overseas and then recruiting a local whom he groomed to become one of the technical front-liners of the Porsche Centre.

He explained that for Porsche, all of its technicians are properly trained and awarded different statures accordingly to their level of expertise. It starts from bronze, then silver and the top one is gold.

All of the technicians at Porsche Centre Brunei are all silver level technicians, but this is also complemented with the adequate facilities the centre has, because in repairing a Porsche.

Lahiru said that specialised tools are needed for specific models of Porsche, and these tools have allowed technicians to carry out their tasks efficiently and more meticulously.

The team has also proven itself after completing an overhaul on Shanan’s Porsche Carrerra 993; where engine leaks, suspension system and electrical wirings are completely fixed, leaving the owner a car that looks almost brand new.

An exclusive privilege for Porsche owners, Lahiru explained, is that they are able to request its factory to make parts specifically just to repair one customer’s car; with Shanan getting a new engine gasket through this privilege.

But such service wasn’t the first thing that moved Shanan to agree to Porsche Centre Brunei’s restoration service.

“It was how they actually come up to me and explain what are the things I need to do to make my car up and running well,” he said.

“We might have taken a long time but I was made really aware of what needs to be urgently replaced and what should be done in the long run; and this is the kind of service that gave me the confidence to proceed with the repair,” he added.
