Porsche Centre Abu Dhabi Inspires Road Safety Among Children

Abu Dhabi, 24 April 2009 - Porsche Centre Abu Dhabi, a division of Ali & Sons Co. L.L.C., is making a long-term investment aimed at creating road safety awareness among young school children.

Kindergarten pupils at the Abu Dhabi International School will be participating in a two-day Porsche Kids Driving School (PKDS) event to be presented by the capital's Porsche dealership from 24 April. The Porsche Kids Driving School is a programme designed by Porsche AG to inculcate road safety in children from a very young age.

During the road safety training programme children are taught invaluable skills and given insight into road safety techniques - while having fun at the same time.

This educational activity not only creates awareness about road safety among children, but also provides an exciting 'Porsche experience' designed exclusively for kids. The program introduces children between the ages of three to eight years old to basic traffic rules and regulations, along with simple driving etiquette.

"The concept simply merges education and entertainment to deliver the message of road safety," says Wissam Khalil, Brand Manager at Porsche Centre Abu Dhabi.

"Kids get to drive Porsche pedal cars and are tipped on traffic rules; they're learning while having lots of fun and at the end of the event the kids even earn their very first Porsche driving license."

The PKDS program is divided into two separate sessions: one in the classroom and one outdoors, on a specially created track.

In the classroom session, pupils are introduced to road signs, basic driver safety and etiquette. During the second part of the course, they take to specially created tracks that simulate roads where they put their new skills to practice in the Porsche pedal cars.

By the end of the day the children have learnt many basic traffic rules and regulations, as well as earning their first 'Porsche Driving License'.

"The Porsche Kids Driving School reinforces Porsche Centre's commitment to promoting road safety, and we view this as an integral component of the greater corporate social investment initiative of Ali & Sons," says Khalil.

Ms. Jihan Nasr, the Superintendent of Abu Dhabi International School has lauded Porsche Centre's investment in its community.

"We are delighted that Porsche Centre Abu Dhabi has selected our school to launch their road safety awareness campaign for children," Nasr says.

"As educators who shape our country's future leaders and tomorrow's drivers, we place a high premium on their safety. Therefore, we welcome with open arms Porsche Abu Dhabi's community involvement to help instil road safety awareness at grassroots level," she adds.
