In electromobility, there are vehicles with different drive technologies. Porsche offers both all-electric and plug-in hybrid models.

Electric cars (also known as BEV = Battery Electric Vehicles) are fitted with an electric motor and a battery. In the Porsche Taycan, the system voltage of 800 volts ensures high continuous power, shortens charging time and reduces weight.

Plug-in hybrid cars (also known as PHEV = Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles) are fitted with an electric motor, a battery and a combustion engine. In our Porsche plug-in hybrid models, the electric motor boosts the power of the combustion engine.

The calculation is based on your personal driving profile, your traveling conditions and the respective model equipment. Please select the options relevant for you. Range indicator. Traveling conditions Traveling conditions With the outside temperature regulator, you can test how the outside temperature impacts the range. The air conditioning and heating greatly influence the energy consumption of your Taycan. When calculating the range influences, it is assumed that you have set the interior temperature to 22°C and that the vehicle is preconditioned at the start of the journey. Alternatively, the air conditioning can be set to 'ECO PLUS' or completely switched off.

The Taycan is equipped as standard with mechanical charge port doors on the driver and front passenger sides. The charge port door opens with a light touch. You can now easily connect the charging plug. The Taycan comes with optionally available electric, sensor-controlled charge port doors: contactless opening with a hand gesture. The performance battery is the heart of the Taycan. It provides a gross energy content of approximately 93kWh and has a range of up to 504 kilometres, which is suitable for everyday use. The on-board AC charger (11kW) converts alternating current with a voltage of 400 volts or 230 volts into 800 volts of direct current. The Taycan comes as standard with a 150kW on board DC charger, which enables even shorter charging times at suitable charging pedestals. A heat pump is optionally available. It uses the excess heat from the vehicle's drive components to heat the vehicle interior. This saves electrical energy – especially when outside temperatures are below 20°C and air conditioning is activated. Depending on the ambient temperature, the desired interior temperature and the driving profile, this increases the range by up to 30%.A heat pump is optionally available. FAQs.

Porsche electric and plug-in hybrid models.
Can a passer-by disconnect the plug, while I am charging at a public charging point?

No, once plugged into the vehicle charge port, the charging plug is automatically detected by the vehicle and locked. The charging cable is secured against being disconnected and your Porsche is secured against being driven away.

What charging equipment does Porsche offer for charging my vehicle at home and where can I buy it?

Porsche offers different charging equipment, e.g. the Porsche Mobile Charger, Porsche Mobile Charger Connect, Porsche Mobile Charger Plus and the Porsche Home Energy Manager as standard and optional equipment. In addition, different fitting options are available such as the charging dock or the Porsche compact charging pedestal. You can purchase these via the established sales channels, e.g. from your Porsche partner.

What must I note in particular during cold weather?

As a result of the comfort functions used in cold weather, e.g. the heating, the range of your vehicle may be reduced. The use of the convenient preconditioning function during charging can minimise this result as the required heating power is provided by the power grid.

At low temperatures, the charging performance of your high-voltage battery can also be restricted. Using the Porsche Charging Planner (availability dependent on country) and the battery preconditioning can however warm the battery before the charging operation and thereby enable optimal charging conditions.

If you have questions regarding the Porsche charging hardware products on offer, their installation or any problems that occur, please contact your Porsche partner or Porsche Connect support (availability dependent on country). These support services will advise you, provide support on troubleshooting and initiate required fault resolution processes.
