Porsche with strong partners in Geneva World Endurance Championship (WEC) and the Le Mans 24 Hours

Stuttgart . Porsche appears with new strong motorsport partners at the International Motor Show Geneva: DMG MORI joins as exclusive premium partner of the Porsche Team for its return to the top category of the World Endurance Championship (WEC). The WEC consists of eight rounds on three continents and includes the Le Mans 24 Hours as the season’s highlight. The name DMG MORI stands for the partnership of two worldwide leading machine tool manufacturers.

Friedrich Enzinger, Vice president LMP1, said: “We are very proud of this partnership for our challenging WEC project.” Dr. Rüdiger Kapitza, Chairman of the Executive Board of DMG MORI SEIKI AG, said: “DMG MORI represents tradition, precision and technological leadership on a global scale and, therefore, fits perfectly well with Porsche’s values and high technological standards. We are looking forward to a strong and fruitful partnership.”

The DMG MORI range of products includes innovative high-tech machines and services, as well as software and energy solutions. The machine tools segment is DMG MORI’s core business. The company’s global presence includes 21 manufacturing and 146 sales and service locations.

The DMG MORI logo is a prominent eye catcher on either side of the car’s huge fin and, as well as that, it is present on the car’s nose cone, the front spoiler and below the headlights.

Perfect timing
The Swiss watch manufacturer Chopard stands for “Passion for Excellence”, which perfectly matches qualities shared by Porsche. Chopard will be joining both works teams, the Porsche Team in the LMP1 category as well as Porsche Team Manthey with its two 911 RSRs, as “Official Timing Partner Porsche Motorsport”.

The history of Chopard began in 1860 with the precise timing devices produced by Louis-Ulysse Chopard in Sonvillier, right in the heart of the Swiss Jura region. Since 1937 the company has been based in Geneva. In 1963 Karl Scheufele from Pforzheim, Germany, became the owner of Chopard, which remains up until today a family-run business. His children, Caroline and Karl-Friedrich, are its current co-presidents. The symbiosis of sportiness and perfect time keeping have lead to a great passion for racing which has been represented in the brand’s portfolio since 1988, the year when the “Mille Miglia” model was launched.
