Porsche records 21 percent increase in customer deliveries
Stuttgart. In August 2012, Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG delivered a total of 10,912 vehicles to customers around the world – an increase of 20.8 percent compared to the same month of last year. Looking back on course of the previous year, the Stuttgart-based sports car manufacturer sold 92,474 vehicles (+15.0%).
“Currently, the automotive markets are developing quite differently: uncertainty in Europe, competitive pressures in China, confidence in the U.S., growth in the Middle East and South-East Asia,” said Bernhard Maier, Member of the Executive Board Sales and Marketing at Porsche AG. “Thanks to our strong brand, along with the most attractive range of models of all time, we are still on the course for growth. At the auto show in Paris, we shall surprise the world with an additional product highlight.”
In August 2012, Porsche recorded growth in all sales regions. The vibrancy of American customers was particularly strong: with 3,026 deliveries, an increase of 38.6 percent compared to the same month of last year was achieved in the U.S.. For China, in August 2012 the Stuttgart-based sports car manufacturer reports an increase of 28.4 percent; exactly 2,882 sports cars were sold.
The iconic 911 sports car is quite popular around the world: 1,559 sold models signifies an increase of 29.5 percent compared to August 2011. Moreover, with 850 delivered units and an increase of 32.0 percent, the outstanding mid-engine Boxster sports car clearly outstripped the level of the previous year. As a whole, 6,331 units of the Cayenne sports utility vehicle were delivered into the hands of customers in August − an increase of 36.0 percent compared to August 2011.
