Porsche extends shortened working hours until March 2010Additional closing days at the Zuffenhausen location
Stuttgart. In view of the uncertain sales development on the individual markets, the Management Board and Works Council of Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, have jointly decided to extend shortened working hours at the Zuffenhausen plant until the end of March 2010. In the coming three months, approximately 2,300 employees of the sports car production will not be working on a total of 16 days.
Thanks to the flexible working-time models, Porsche has been able to compensate for sales fluctuations in production over the last few years. However, working-time accounts reached the minimum level in the fall of 2009, so the Management Board and Works Council decided to announce shortened working hours for the period of September to December, totaling 18 days of shortened hours. The Works Council came to an agreement with the employer to ensure that employees will suffer no financial disadvantages as a result of these shortened hours and this will also apply to the further 16 days of shortened working hours that have now been agreed. It is the first time since 1995 that the sports car manufacturer has had to resort to implementing shortened hours.
The Porsche plant in Leipzig, which produces the sporty Cayenne SUV and the Gran Turismo Panamera, is not affected by the shortened hours.
