The Porsche Award 2009 goes to Germany, Czech Republic and EnglandOnce again the sports car manufacturer awards prizes for the best advertising films by students

Stuttgart. For the sixth time last night, students at the Baden-
Württemberg Film Academy were honored for their contributions with the "Porsche Award". Since 2004, Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, has been the primary and title sponsor of the annual competition for the "Porsche International Student Advertising Film Award". For the first time this year, applicants were allotted 90 seconds as the maximum length of their advertising spots, from 60 seconds previously.

The international and top-class expert jury selected the advertisement "The Giant Thirst" of Georg von Mitzlaff of the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy for first place. The jurors awarded second place to Mario Zozin of the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy for his spot "Oleg - Life of a Weightlifter". Eugen Liska of the Film & TV Faculty of Academy of Performing Arts Prague/Czech Republic was able to secure third place for his contribution "Shockproof Festival 09 Ident". Nicole Volavka of the The London Film School/England received the special prize for her particularly original contribution "Rubbish".

In addition to total artistic achievement, the jury evaluated the interplay of idea, script, film direction and camera. In previous years, the first three winners were awarded monetary prizes in the amounts of Euro 3,911, Euro 2,911 and Euro 1,911 - the amounts following the sports car classic, "Porsche 911". The winner of the fourth prize accepted flight coupons provided by the co-sponsor, Germanwings, valued at Euro 900.

Moreover, the four first-place award winners each received a trophy. The chosen shape of a slingshot - in gold, silver, bronze and natural stone - shall symbolize that even film students should use courage and creativity in asserting themselves against the "big players" of the industry - just like David had done against Goliath in the familiar biblical story.

Regarding the ten finalists of the competition, the Marketing and Communications Manager at Porsche AG, Stefan Büscher, emphasized: "These contributions have convinced us with their creative power, their technical execution and their craftsmanship. Some of them will be honored today. However we wish to thank everyone, who met this challenge, for their sportsmanship ". For this year's competition, a total of 90 pieces were submitted by students of film, design and art colleges from 14 countries. The following "Top Ten" was nominated for the shortlist by the jury in a preselection:
