Porsche supports German Society of ImmunologyThree scientists honored

Stuttgart / Vienna. With support from Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, the German Society of Immunology honored three scientists yesterday in Vienna: the EUR 3,000 Georges-Köhler Prize 2008 for the best habilitation in the field of immunology was shared by Prof. Dr. Diana Dudziak (Nikolaus-Fiebiger Center, Erlangen) and Dr. Sven Burgdorf (Bonn University Hospital). The Otto-Westphal Prize 2008 for the best doctoral thesis (EUR 1,500) was awarded to Dr. Marcus Lettau of the University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein in Kiel.

"Supporting young researchers in the field of immunology is particularly important because their work is decisive to the continu-ous optimization of health care. Current findings make it possible to improve the protection of large population groups against infectious diseases and chronic inflammation", said Dr. Kay Großmann, Head of Porsche Health Management, at the award cere-mony in Vienna.

Porsche AG has been supporting the German Society of Immunology for many years.
