Commissioning of Porsche’s new spare parts warehouse in SachsenheimFirst part of building completed

Stuttgart. Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, is currently commissioning the first stage of the new spare parts center in the industrial park of Eichwald, Sachsenheim. The warehouse, which has an area of 40,000 square meters, took less than one year to build and cost 28 million Euros.

The new spare parts warehouse is characterized by the transparent structure of the building, which creates a pleasant working environment with plenty of light in the storage area. The building materials used meet the latest environmental standards. A large proportion of the building’s energy and space heating requirement is covered by an environmentally friendly combined heat and power (CHP) plant.

Now that the new warehouse is going into operation, Porsche can close five previously rented warehouse locations in the Stuttgart area. Operating from the new premises will ensure enhancement of the spare parts delivery service for customers.

The sports car manufacturer will continue to operate the previous central spare parts warehouses in Ludwigsburg and Waiblingen until 2010. These will be discontinued with the commissioning of the second stage of the Sachsenheim building. In the longer term, a total of 350 new jobs will have been created in Sachsenheim. Investments in the whole building project total more than 100 million Euros.
