Porsche again posts record number of new registrations in Germany in 2006Growth thanks to new sports car models

Stuttgart. Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, again posted a new registration record in Germany in 2006. A total of 17,490 Porsche vehicles were registered, a plus of 5.6 per cent against the previous year.

An important share in the growth was generated by the sports car models 911, Boxster und Cayman. New registrations of the 911 model increased – not least due to the Turbo and Targa versions launched for the first time in 2006 – by a total of 18.2 per cent to 8,393 vehicles (previous year: 7,099). For the mid-engine models Boxster and Cayman, a total of 4,920 vehicles were registered, 22.1 per cent more than in the previous year (4,029 units). Due to the pending model changes, the number of new registrations for the sporty all-terrain vehicle Cayenne declined by 23.8 per cent to 4,101 units (previous year: 5,384). There were 43 new registrations of the high-performance sports car Carrera GT (previous year: 48).

Bernhard Maier, Managing Director at Porsche Deutschland GmbH: “In 2006 we moved forward primarily because we were able to gain new customers with our Cayman models.“ The Managing Director expects further growth from the new Cayenne generation which is available at dealers from February 24, 2007: “Current orders even before the actual launch make me confident for 2007”, states Maier. With newly developed engines, the Cayenne models of the second generation have higher performance and lower fuel consumption.
