In 1934, he discovered the poems on which his work is based, which date back to the 12th century and tell of the world swaying eternally between fortune and misfortune, rise and fall. The debut performance in 1937 brought the Munich composer international fame. Today, "Carmina Burana" are among the most performed choral works in the world.
