Strong demand for Porsche sports car in North AmericaCayenne sales remain stable compared to preceding months

Stuttgart. Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, sold 2,729 vehicles in North America in October 2005, which represents a fall of 14 percent compared to sales of 3,161 units generated the previous year. The weakening is predominantly attributable to developments the previous year, when exceptionally high Cayenne shipments helped Porsche generate record October sales figures in the USA and Canada. Sales of the sport utility vehicle declined to 1,208 units in October 2005, a drop of 45 percent compared to October 2004. However, shipments of the Cayenne remained more than stable compared to previous months in 2005, with around 1,100 units being sold a month.

Porsche’s sports cars posted another considerable increase in sales in October 2005. The strongest rise in Boxster shipments was recorded in North America, where deliveries increased by 257 percent to 571 units. There was also strong demand for the 911, where 924 vehicles were shipped (up 16 percent). The new four-wheel drive variant of the 911 Carrera, which will be launched this month in the North American market, will provide additional impulses for the 911-model range. A total of 26 units of the high-performance Carrera GT sports car were delivered to customers (October 2004: 24 vehicles)
