Porsche is supporting an image campaign for the German languageThe Robert Bosch Foundation advertises Germany in Iceland

Stuttgart/Reykjavik. The Cayenne is being used for mobile German tuition provided by the Robert-Bosch-Foundation in Iceland. Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, is using the sporty all-terrain vehicle to support an image campaign for Germany and the German language. A German foreign language assistant from the University of Iceland in Reykjavik will spend 18 months travelling around the island in the 250-bhp Porsche, stopping off at almost every school and sports club in the country. Through this large-scale campaign, Porsche and the Robert Bosch Foundation hope to fire the interest of Iceland's youngsters in the German language and at the same time communicate to them a positive image of the country, its people and its culture.

Porsche automobiles are already very popular in Iceland, despite only having been on the market there since 1999. In the past year alone, the Stuttgart automobile manufacturer sold a total of 223 vehicles in the country – a high number considering that the population numbers just 290,000. The Cayenne off-road vehicle is a particular favourite, as the island's rough terrain enables it to show off its off-road capabilities.

The language promotion tour in a Porsche is generating huge public interest in Iceland. Giving the starting signal for the round-island trip, which begins this week, were the German Ambassador, Johann Wenzl, former Icelandic President Vigdis Finnbogadottir and the Dean of the University of Iceland, Oddny Sverrisdottir.
