When dreams match.
Porsche & Paul Casey.
Porsche welcomes Paul Casey as a Brand Ambassador.
"I wanted to become a racing driver." As if he knew what was coming, Paul Casey starts talking about his childhood dreams. However, the sentence that reads like the perfect statement about his new role as a Porsche Brand Ambassador was actually uttered in another context - in an interview about his career as a professional golfer. The sentence however fits equally well to the new goal Paul Casey is pursuing with Porsche.
And then as we all know, things turned out completely differently. Paul Casey didn't become a racing driver.
The second childhood dream of becoming a golf pro.
"Games with a ball and a club come to me easier," he says with a wry smile on his face when explaining the deviation from his original goal. The explanation though is a lovely understatement of his golfing skills. Wins on the PGA Tour and the European Tour helped the Englishman rise up the world rankings to No. 3 in 2009. Putting it in the same downbeat way as Paul Casey, he simply made his second childhood dream of becoming a golf pro come true. Legendary: his hole-in-one at the Ryder Cup three years previously. The US-resident has amassed at total of 20 pro titles - including the 2019 Porsche European Open.
Somebody that, almost second to none, is able to focus on the next goal, the next shot but who also draws strength in tournaments from his composure. For he knows: "A bad shot is also okay. But the ability to shift into another mental state helps me not to lose that fire." Fired but not fired up too much, focussed desire to perform - relaxed and open to new goals. In this sense Paul, it is wonderful when dreams match. Just like you do to us.
