Friendship and community are back on track. The racetrack, that is. An annual celebration of all things Porsche and car culture, Sports Car Together Fest 2022 returned to the legendary Indianapolis Motor Speedway September 2-4, 2022. Over the course of the three-day weekend, Porsche owners and enthusiasts from across the country united to celebrate their shared passion, on the track and off, behind the wheel and on foot.

Porsche Classic Restoration Challenge

The weekend’s festivities included the final conclusion of the 2022 Porsche Classic Restoration Challenge, a competition which saw more than 60 dealerships from around the country take part, using the official catalog of 60,000 unique Porsche Classic Genuine Parts to restore vehicles to their former glory. On the afternoon of Saturday, September 3rd, three regional finalists and their vehicles rolled into the Speedway’s Winner’s Circle to hear the announcement of the competition’s overall winner: a 1989 911 Turbo Type 930 restored by Champion Porsche.

“This was our first time taking part in the competition. We gave it our all - and then some - in every step of the restoration project,” said representatives from Champion Porsche. “The competition this year was definitely stiff. It was great to talk Porsche with all the fellow competitors and feel a comradery amongst everyone.”

Porsche Esports Challenge USA

Some of the most thrilling races at the 2022 Porsche Sports Car Together Fest didn’t happen on the Speedway’s track — they happened virtually. Sixteen gamers made it to the finals of the Porsche Esports Challenge USA, held in partnership with Polyphony, the studio behind Gran Turismo 7.

Competitors had the opportunity to “get behind the wheel” of iconic Porsche road and race cars, competing virtually on some of the most celebrated American race tracks including Daytona, Laguna Seca and Watkins Glen. The winner and two runners-up emerged victorious on Saturday after scoring the most points across six races, each featuring unique tracks, Porsche cars and conditions. For their exceptional performance, each of the three top finalists received cash prizes, as well as a trophy and watch, all courtesy of Porsche Design.

Porsche x Ragnar

Against the backdrop of the festival, two passionate communities came together to host the firstever Porsche race entirely on foot - the Porsche x Ragnar Indy Track Run. In cooperation with Ragnar

Relays, an organization that puts on relay format running challenges all over the country, teams of two were challenged to take to the track and run as fast and as far as they could in two hours. After a grueling and competitive race, in true motorsports fashion, top teams were celebrated on the podium with a champagne spray and trophy celebration. Participants closed the night with live music and shared stories in the Biergarten.

Overall, this year’s Sports Car Together Fest proved to be another smashing success, bringing together Porsche fans, families and drivers alike for a full weekend of enthusiasm on four wheels; a celebration of community and passion in its purest form, open to anybody looking to learn, to cherish, to cheer, or just looking to have a good time.

Fortunately, the fun doesn’t stop here. Join us next year for the world’s largest celebration of Porsche, Rennsport Reunion 7, held September 28th-October 1st, 2023, at the legendary Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca. See you there!
