Performing Its Corporate Social Responsibility, Porsche Opens A New Chapter of Vocational Education Integrating International Standards into Local Practice Vocational Education

Shanghai - On November 23, 2018, Porsche held a media briefing on the development of vocational education. At this event, Porsche China Talent Academy signed the 2019 Porsche Elite Apprentice Programme (PEAP) cooperation agreement with 10 vocational education institutions, and for the first time introduced the global vocational education programme - Porsche Aftersales Vocational Education (PAVE). This marks Porsche China’s further development in supporting vocational education, by fusing local practice with international standards to achieve more in-depth corporate social responsibility practices.

Demonstrating Social Value with Eight Years of Practice

At the event, Porsche signed the 2019 PEAP agreement with 10 higher vocational schools, further expanding the talent reserve of the PEAP. In the past eight years, the PEAP has established cooperation agreements with 19 middle and higher vocational schools in China, and has developed a large number of outstanding talents for enterprises and the industry.

As one of the core programmes of Porsche China in the field of vocational education, since its inception in 2010, PEAP has been dedicated to selecting students with a good education foundation and high potential from domestic vocational schools, opening recruitment access to eight positions including mechanical and electrical maintenance, sheet metal repair and painting maintenance etc.. With intensive training and corporate internship in schools, Porsche Training Centre and Porsche Centre in different phases, PEAP is aimed at cultivating young employees with Porsche “Bronze Technology” certification and assistant-level service capabilities.

Porsche is always focusing on the cultivation of technical service talents, and government vocational education policies to vigorously promote Industry-Education Cooperation and School-Enterprise Cooperation bring us greater confidence in the development of vocational education,” said Raymond Charm, Director of Porsche China Talent Academy. “Through cooperation with excellent higher vocational education institutions, we have trained more than 6,000 professional and technical talents to provide qualified technical service support for the industry, and in turn, created more jobs for the society.”

In addition to the PEAP, Porsche also actively participates in the international vocational education programme Sino-German Automotive Vocational Education Project (SGAVE). Since 2010, SGAVE has successfully introduced and implemented the automotive mechatronics vocational education training in line with the demand of modern automotive industry. So far, SGAVE has partnered with 25 higher vocational schools in China.

“Based on the sound vocational education system, Porsche has set up a high-quality learning and employment platform,” said Jojo Tang, Vice President of Public Relations and Press of Porsche China. “Our projects endow in-depth practices in the industry with wider social value and enable shift from industry value to social value. Porsche vocational education programmes have become an important part for us to perform our CSR.”

Promoting Industry-Education Cooperation by Integrating Resources

Porsche Aftersales Vocational Education (PAVE), the Porsche global vocational education programme, made its premiere at the event. As an entry-level vocational education and vocational promotion qualification authentication programme, PAVE is dedicated to implementing global after-sales standards in vocational education in line with innovation, new technologies and market changes. Based on the demand-oriented vocational education concept, PAVE applies modular design, and can adjust and change training contents according to technical development and industrial trend.

According to Mr. Torsten Klavs, Manager of Qualification Concepts in the department of After Sales Market Qualification and Support at Porsche AG, the PAVE programme has a flexible mechanism to develop global vocational education standards in line with the European Qualification Framework (EQF), while adapting to local market conditions. Through PAVE, Porsche is also able to integrate vocational education based on “Industry 4.0” into the after-sales services, and more rapidly blend it into local CSR practice to create social benefits.

At present, the role played by vocational education in the regional economy, employment expansion and industrial upgrading, is becoming increasingly significant. Policies and guidelines such as the Industry-Education Cooperation and School-Enterprise Cooperation are aimed to speed up the coordinated development of education and industry, and promote contributions of education to economic development and industrial upgrading. Proven global vocational development resources will help boost this process.

“High-quality vocational education will guarantee future development of the industry, maintain the industry vitality in the technical innovation area, and promote sustainable social development. With an optimized integrated vocational education system and concept at Porsche, we will continue to help foster China’s vocational education, and make due contributions to the sustainable development of the industry and society,” said Porsche China President and CEO Dr.-Ing Jens Puttfarcken.
